CUSA is on the verge of DEFCON 1 status, and Judy has her finger on the nuclear button.

It’s being presented to only C-USA Presidents? How does that help convince the AAC and the SBC?

First hot take after reading this: CUSA knows they are doomed, they have no choice but to suggest this… problem is they have no juice to get this done. AAC targets mentioned were interesting.

RE: Regionalization concept to be presented Monday
Quote: When asked about the C-USA concept, an AAC spokesman told CBS Sports, "We have zero interest in that. That's not in our plan."

Sun Belt commissioner Keith Gill took a similar stance: "We're really not interested in a merger. We feel really good about where we are."

Big take away…

“ After failing to lure any Mountain West schools, sources said the AAC had set its sights East on some combination of UAB, North Texas, Texas State, UTSA, Appalachian State and perhaps others. There has also been buzz about Aresco going "big" and inviting up to eight schools to grow his Conference to 16 teams.”

Replace long east-west trips with long north-south trips and dissolve a conference on the rise? Hard pass.

This is mostly what CUSA schools want, and would explain what Jim Delaney has been doing in his talks with CUSA people.

CUSA didn’t give a s*&t about the Belt in the last realignment cycle. Now they do because they are about to be crippled. The AAC will say no to this and we will too

I wonder if Delaney knows something about the AAC deal? The only way this even crosses the AAC universitie’s minds if their deal is going to be way worse than anyone expected. What about bowl games, media distribution, etc…?

Yeah. Hell to the no on this one. Just C-USA pushing stupid **** again as they always do. Let’s just have AAC and Sun Belt go off and talk like men, leaving the kids behind on the imaginary playground. USM can come with us.

The CUSA presidents can all vote for it. Who cares. The AAC will reject it and so will we

Where was this in 2012? Oh yeah, C-USA was a hunter, not the prey. It’s as desperate as hanging a curtain in the Cowboy’s Star facility seeking a relevant conference basketball tournament setup.

I looked at how CBS split the teams up and they had Temple in the South. Made 0 sense. Why wouldn’t South Florida be in the South and Temple in the East? I mean I don’t hate the makeup of where Troy would end up but it’s so unrealistic.

The Belt just needs to stay together and make good adds and we will be even stronger. We are building something here and no one wants to blow it up

The only chance that this could work is if all CUSA schools push back against the AAC advances.
