Fall 2021 Football Bracketology (Playoff Discussion)
I'm going to go out on a limb and say we make the playoffs.

Nova & UD appear "to me" to be our biggest challenges for a loss.....

I'm hungry for NDSU to come to Harrisonburg. I'd love to be seeded in a manner for that to happen. "To me" a home playoff game versus NDSU would be more exciting that a NC game against someone else.

If Duke Dog is correct, this will likely be our last FCS playoffs - so it could be now or never.

There's speculation on here who would be seeded higher in undefeated seasons - SHSU or JMU. I think the selection committee comes out with their preliminary seeding in a few weeks which could provide some insight.

https://herosports.com/fcs-football-2021...ns-4-bzbz/ Love the Dukes 02-13-banana

RE: Fall 2021 Football Bracketology (Playoff Discussion)
Just SOME of the teams who are undefeated or 1 loss still have vs ranked teams (might have missed some):
-SDSU still has SIU, UNI, NDSU, UND (all at home).
-NDSU still has UNI, Mo St, @ SDSU.
-UNI still has @ NDSU, @ SDSU, SIU, @ Mo St.
-SIU still has @ SDSU, UND, UNI, Mo St.

-EWU still has Weber St, @ UCD.
-Montana still has Montana St.
-UCD still has EWU.
-Montana St still has @ Weber, @ EWU, @ Montana.

-JMU still has VU, @ UD.
-VU still has @ JMU, @ UD.
-UD still has @ URI, JMU, @ VU.

-ETSU still has @ UTC.

-SHSU still has, well nobody…well JSU…

And of course we’ll see top teams have unexpected upsets vs unranked..
And yet these clowns are doing full brackets now before we’ve even hit the halfway mark of the season (after week 6 games) ..03-lmfao
Maybe after week 9 or 10 they’d have some merit, but at this point bracket predictions are a worthless as tits on a bull.

In all fairness these clowns exist because Bozo's like me are interested in an outside opinion, and is also good for message board conversations.

Nobowls.com has not yet put one up for this fall.....

If a Big Sky or MVFC team goes undefeated, then I don't think SHSU will get the top seed. But if it comes down to an undefeated SHSU, an undefeated JMU, and a one-loss Big Sky or MVFC then I have no idea how the committee would decide seeding.

We are zero threat to give you a loss with Henderson out for the year.

RE: Fall 2021 Football Bracketology (Playoff Discussion)
We dropped to 8th in the Stats top 25 and 7th in the Coaches top 25.

Seems appropriate.

Nova is a solid veteran team, but to me there is little doubt who has the better team. Winning one on the road is a one day snapshot. If we both play our best we win.

Can still work our way back into the top 4 I think, but a top 2 seed is gone I think at this point.

To get top 4, we are probably going to need some help with some losses above us.
I agree that top 2 isn't going to happen.

We need some chaos to happen in the MVFC and Big sky. SDSU needs to beat NDSU, Nova needs to lose, and EWU needs to drop a game for us to have a shot at a top 4 in my opinion

And early losses are harder to overcome than late losses

Hmm - I would of thought the opposite.

you know..i may just have that wrong. Just feel like climbing up is harder than falling down - nova loss knocked us down 6 or so pegs....would winning out have us jump back that far?

if you are going to lose a game, lose it early and then win out. Better shot to make up ground.

Yeah-it's not really fair, but that's the way it is (at least with polls). If you're going to lose a single game, better to get it out of the way early and allow time to re-climb the ranks.

Yep. Early season losses far better than late season. More time for other teams to lose and reshuffle the polls. Beyond poll rankings, I also think how you finish the season is more important than how you began for the committee. A late season loss can do real damage to seeding.

Agreed and we need Weber/ all the remaining CAA teams on our schedule to continue to win in order to make our resume look stronger

It depends on who, if anyone, goes undefeated.

Dude! This is the internet! You're supposed to double down on an opinion or log off. Anything less is likely to bring about the apocalypse! 05-nono
