RE: USA at TXST game thread
I hate this game every year. I didn’t have a good feeling all week about this game but the coaches lost this one. We were up 14 points with 10 minutes left and had the ball. Instead of running clock we attempted a flea flicker and the result was a turnover and subsequent Bobcat touchdown and the rest is history. Sigh. I need to get less invested in football. Alerts on my watch for my heart rate - it can’t be good long term for my heart lol.

If you think calling for a flea flicker when up 14 points and 10 minutes to go in the game is conservative… lol.

Yeah, I phrased that wrong. He's choosing to be aggressive and conservative at the wrong times. Playing agressive and ignoring logic to be conservative at one point, and playing conservative when its time to be aggressive at others...

Young coach making young coach mistakes. Trying to get to cute when just playing football will work just fine.
It’s the negative side of trying to find the next great young coach, you got to let them learn. At least I hope that is what it is.

Its weird to watch a game where both coaches are younger than me and I'm 37.

Or not attempting a field goal in the La game to take the lead. Cajuns might have still won but that was anything but conservative. Wommack is still young and will be a good one, but watching some of this play calling is painful. Got to wonder if some of it, like the flea flicker, is more on Applewhite though.

RE: USA at TXST game thread
The flea flicker turnover was the definite turning point in this game. We were on life support at that point and really needed a turnover or quick stop to just stay in the game and managed to get it there. Not sure I've ever seen the toss back on a flea flicker "intercepted" like that before (think it counts statistically as a FR).
Every single game between TXST and USA seems to be insane for whatever reason. Just another chapter in the series tonight.

I suppose you could take that view . . . Of course we gifted them 10 plus points with 3 first half INTs. IF we don’t do that, then perhaps they’re not in a position to “blow a game they had won.” In the end, the turnovers were a wash, as USA committed 3 themselves.
I don’t know what it is about these two teams when they get together, but weird things seem to happen in this series. We’ve met 7 times now, with the home team winning each contest.
Just glad we got the W. If there was ever a team in The Belt in dire need of a win, it was certainly US.
As to USA, I’ve really enjoyed our games with them . . . Each has been very competitive, each has come down to the wire. I tip my cap to the Jags . . .

USA also turned the ball over three times. What was more frustrating for me was the 13 penalties we committed. How many of those occurred on a Texas State third or fourth down to extend the Bobcat drive?

That part reminds me of the Joey Jones days.

That’s a hero or zero play. If it works the fans go wild over their coach putting his foot on the neck of his opponent and finished them.

Trophy can be a cow pile, awarded to the loser. Must be an original, not a replica.

USA is having problems kicking the ball right? Why in the world do you get conservative where you have to kick? Go hard and try to get in the end zone. If that means throw the ball throw it!
