Quote:“We’re evaluating the landscape and certainly have our eyes open as to what is happening and what some of our other conference colleagues are doing,” Gill said. “If there are some opportunities for us to grow and they make sense, we’re open to that but at the same time, we feel good about our 10 football-playing schools. We’re a strong college football conference and we feel good where we are and how we’re positioned.
“We know 10 [member schools] is a good number and maybe that’s the best place for us to be.”
That’s the same statement we gave early on in this. We’re open to the right expansion options but also comfortable with our 10 if need be. He didn’t say anything earth shattering there. We’re not going to straight up announce our plan
You know I like our conference like it is but I wouldn't mind taking USM and especially Marshal to shut that idiot up.
Just invite USM and apply for the 11 team conference. We'll call it a day and watch the rat race with the MAC.

RE: Orlando Sentinel: SBC Continues to Monitor Conference Realignment Moves
The 2 and 4 team addition possibilities are still on the table. When the AAC makes its additions the SBC will look at its options and will make its moves if any are made. Believe it or not accepting an AAC offer is not a given for every school. The stability of the AAC is in some doubt and whoever they add at this point will result in a drop of their per team payout

Sounds to me like USM wants into the SBC but the SBC isn’t going to pull the trigger unless we can get Marshall or UAB to come with them and both of those schools are still holding out for the AAC.

I think the Belt will expand by at least 2 before the football season is over. I know CUSA fans are in denial but at least 6 of them have reached out to the Sun Belt. It is not 100 percent certain but it is believed no one is leaving the Belt for the AAC

It's not 100% certain but it is believed the AAC is not inviting anyone from the SBC.
Fixed it for you

It's been quiet in Huntington, but there's starting to be some whispers about Marshall and the AAC. No idea if we get invited or if we make the move, but I'm sure we are at least one of the top candidates.

At this point who knows what the AAC will do. If Marshall goes go luck to them. The Belt will be fine

Hopefully marshall gets the AAC invite. They belong with ECU.

Doesn't seem like a great decision for any SBC school to attempt to double their athletic budget to be on par with the lowest spending AAC school just to make maybe 2-3 million more after the AAC will almost certainly take a considerable pay cut per team. Not to mention, the questionable long term stability of such a decision. It's not nearly as attractive or valuable in my eyes. Just not a great financial move for most SBC schools, and you won't really be getting your bang for the buck after exit and entrance fees. Just doesn't seem solid to me.

I agree, no one knows what they will do, but I tell ya, I will be surprised if Louisiana isn't a serious candidate. Biggest thing they have to worry about is Tulane blocking them.

Big 12 = No
Boise = No
SDSU = No
Air Force = No
CSU = No
UTSA = No
That doesn’t seem like a top choice to me, but what do I know. Other than I’m replying to an idiot.

I do know wherever the blundering turds land 129 will believe that is the best conference on that day.
I also know that if they land in the AAC either a minimum of two other CUSA turned them down or the AAC has lost additional members.

Does anyone feel that the AAC at this point can keep its per team payout the same? I highly doubt it

No way...that was their only reason for going West. They are going to certainly take some type of cut now and ESPN has told them that.

No, of course not. One of the factors MWC teams have turned them down and the math of paying entrance/exit fees may not make sense for some as well.
There’s also the risk that Memphis and SMU bounce too.

Not even close, regardless of who is added. A lot of the left overs are in for a rude awakening imo.

Raiding the Big 12 was a non starter.
MWC teams leaving to join the AAC was not very likely.
No evidence that UTSA has said no or that they were even offered. I suspect, even if they have said no, then it's the same as Ga St. Just their way of saving face. Look at the UTSA basketball gym, I mean arena. Do you think Memphis, Wichita St, Temple, SMU are going to be ok with playing in THAT? No chance.
