I thought I'd attach a map showing one possibility of how the SB, AAC, and C-USA could shake out.

The AAC would be the retained 8 football members, plus Wichita State. Rice and UAB would be added for ten members for football and non football.

The SB would be the 10 football members, minus UTA and LR, plus USM, WKU, Marshall, and JMU.

C-USA would be the remaining nine members not taken by the AAC and SB, with NMSU added to make for an even 10.

SB is in yellow. AAC is in green. C-USA is in pink.

THIS!!

Forgive my ignorance but what are schools buying with their doubling of athletic budgets? Certainly some increases in coaching salaries but after that where is the money going? You can only make your weight rooms and training meals so nice before it becomes diminished returns and burning money.

Coaching salaries and support staff will add a couple of million to most athletic budgets.

Then there is staff size. Most schools would need to double their athletic staff.

Travel: Not only would there be increased travel costs in the AAC, but now you're talking about pretty much doing away with commercial travel. Charters are expensive.

That's off the top of my head. Give me a little time and I'll come up with more.

I would also assume facility maintenance. The bigger the stadium, the more it costs to keep it going. If that is actually an athletic spend? Maybe that gets budgeted elsewhere. Actually one of my worries about our stadium is the massive amount of cost that has to go into keeping it maintained.

You can also spend more on team medicals, nutrition, equipment, upgraded lodging, technology, etc.

They aren't drooling over any of them. Their drool dried up when the MWC said no.

They are in survival mode now.

Not really when they can still easily get whoever they want from CUSA or the Sunbelt.

Sun Belt.

As someone who really likes maps, this is awesome, thanks. My #1 takeaway is just how ridiculously spread out coosa is. No wonder they are circling down the toilet.

We all know where the schools in each conf are located but seeing it in a map really drives it home.
