Wells in every other game has thrown 2 INTs.

Someone this App team hasn’t doesn’t as well as past teams is create turnovers. We may need a couple Tuesday.

We're tied for 34 with 5 INT this season, but couldn't pick a QB that has been a turnover machine. Who knows???

We’re usually top 5-10 in the nation, I don’t think we’re creating the same level of pressure.

We did better last week. Maybe we’re turning the corner.

Pressure... Have we been "saving" it?... Who knows BUT, we will need pressure the next 2 games.

Demetrius Taylor is 7th in the country in QB pressures, according to Clarke.

Turnovers will come, if you follow the Law of Averages. Don't know if it will be against Lewis but they will be coming.

Highly doubtful. In the long run IMHO we would be better with Fields or Wooldridge. Both would open up the passing game so much more.

Careful what you guys wish for. Lewis is going to leave Louisiana with the most career wins and touchdown passes. Perhaps guys are open earlier in their routes than what I've seen but Lewis is literally the CFB version of Russell Wilson and it's frustrating as a fan of the opposing team.

I'd imagine that the guy App has running scout team is faster than Lewis but I doubt he has the arm to really simulate the type of throws he can make (otherwise he would be playing QB somewhere).

Where can I find Billy Napier's Press Conferences? Can't find them on the Louisiana website, Twitter, or YouTube.

Levi is the most underappreciated quarterback in school history. He certainly has his limitations (being 5'9" is the biggest)...he doesn't have the strongest arm, he sometimes has had trouble seeing open receivers because of his height. But he's the best we've ever had in the two minute offense and he doesn't throw it to the guys with different colored shirts very often. His leadership skills are off the charts.

I love the gross over-exaggeration from ardent Levi Lewis backers. So before I move forward, I can’t remember the last Cajuns athlete who has represented UL athletics as well as Levi Lewis has. Lewis is a very efficient QB, his efficiency has lead us to a bunch of wins.

That doesn’t mean that he is the greatest Cajun QB of all time. I’d rank him 6th. I put him behind Brian Mitchell, Jake Delhomme, Roy Henry, Blaine Gautier and Terrance Broadway.

There are plays to be made in this offense that Lewis just can’t execute. I believe a QB that can see from the pocket better and has a stronger arm would make this offense more dangerous. Our running game would improve and our WR play would improve as well.

Now, if our game plan is to have Lewis keep the ball and run 15 times against Appalachian State then my opinion of what we can do on offense changes. What we have seen is a square peg in a round hole offensive philosophy.

And to that ^^

I’m not sure having him keep it and run 15 times is the way to beat App St. Now, maybe he scrambles for that many runs… But I think you’re gonna have to throw to win. Their run D is stout.

App has one of the better defenses in the conference and looked good last week. It’s still a step behind the 2019 version though. Our offense may be the most balanced however since we joined the SBC.

Exactly my point. Lewis is a very efficient passer, but that doesn’t make him a good passing QB. It just proves that he is very cautious and doesn’t risk throwing balls into tight windows.

If LL is not an integral part of the run game, he's a 5'9" pocket passer that won't throw over the middle. It's a conumdrum because we have the deepest and most talented group of receivers probably in the last 20 years and our passing game is limited due to the QB. On the other hand, when LL runs it, we put a tremendous amount of pressure on the defense, especially on the back end. IMO, LL has been overly conservative this season, not wanting to casue a TO, only looking to throw to a wide open receiver.

Also, I would like to see Bailey start at RB instead of Smith. Johnson should be the next guy running the ball. Smith's touches should be focused on plays that gets him space where his elite speed is best utilized. He doesn't break tackles as well as the other two. Would love to see Williams (our biggest RB) in the game, but suspect he will be a RS this season.

100% agree. We have an identity crisis on offense.

All I know is I'm nervous about this and the next matchup. App squeaked by a Marshall team that is turning out to be pretty average, if not below, and lost to a Miami that's turning out not to be very good. This will be a tough game.

If LL is 6th on that list, where do you think Fields is? I mean, damn man, you have seen him in mop up duty but you would put him top 5 all time? I know the backup QB and the next coach are always the most popular guys but wow. Everyone can see LL's limitations but clearly Billy thinks the positives outweigh the negatives. I think playcalling has been a MUCH bigger issue than who is QB1. That said, I will be excited to see what Fields can do next season or this season is Billy makes that call.

If Fields had 40 games under his belt he would be way up their on the list. That kid IS the reason why Napier’s first class was so good. He is a natural leader and is the much better passer than Lewis.

People like to compare Levi Lewis to Russel Wilson, which is absurd. Russel Wilson in a very athletic pocket passer. Lewis is a zone read, roll out QB.

As far as watching Fields in mop up duty, go watch the Spring game. Watch the ball placement on any pass that he has thrown.

Eh. I think both defenses are good. Don't we recall how the 2019 defense looked through the first few weeks? Louisiana scored more points on that defense than they ever have. Gave up 36 and 41 to Coastal and Charlotte....

I'm not buying that defense was better overall. Having ADG helped a lot but this defense has more depth, overall speed, experience, and play making ability. Jolly is going to be a draft pick, Jackson is going to be a draft pick, Hampton is going to be a draft pick, Smith will get a look as a FA, Taylor will be drafted, Earle is likely to get there at his size and with his performance...

If I'm being honest, I think Louisiana scores no more than 17 points in this game and that App ends up holding Coastal to a few hundred yards below their season average. People are pointing to the Marshall game as an example of a weak schedule, what about how ECU has come on? They gave the game against UCF away on Saturday and played outstanding defensive football for the most part.

Marshall's problem is turnovers. They got up for the ECU game. They got up for the App State game, and now that they lost both of those they can't get themselves up anymore. I think Huff is a little abrasive as a coach and I'd imagine the entire team hasn't bought into his authoritarian style of coaching. If he wants to build a player led team, it's going to take getting his own recruits in there because those guys in the locker room have already shown that they fall apart when things get tough (see most every year under Doc).

Marshall had SIX FUMBLES against MTSU in the rain and still were in a position to win that game. They beat ODU in another game that I believe was played in the rain, and ODU has improved as the season has gone on. UTEP is 5-1 I believe and ODU had a chance to drive the field and take the lead there two weeks ago.

So this under valuation of that win isn't lining up with reality. I'd challenge anyone to go back and watch that game and tell me that Marshall isn't a team with great potential. Go back and watch their game against Navy, who beat UCF. There are lots of factors to consider that simply don't get accounted for on a message board from people who don't watch much football outside of their program.

Now guess what? Levi Lewis is going to come into the App game and run 10 to 15 times. Fortunately the guy(s) running App's Scout Team are faster than Levi but I expect him to dump and run every chance he gets on Tuesday. This is a championship level game and your quarterbacks really have to be a little more selfless here.
