It's a secret from a school to fan standpoint. But, as the X-Files have taught us, the truth is out there (in this case on the internet). From what I gathered they played Longwood and George Mason.

The whole point is that it allows a team to work on their stuff prior to it really counting. I'm assuming there are rules about playing other ncaa D1 teams and the secrecy is to get around the rules. Being closed door, it also allows for coaches to stop things mid game and make corrections or rerun something that they didn't like. Opposing coaches can ask each other to run some things that they want to work on. Their are no spectators and the coaches and players aren't to comment on it. That said, much of what we learn of these games are from leaks. It's hard to keep quiet when there are so many participants.

I don't have the article in front of me- I could find it, but I'm pretending to do three other things at the moment- but teams are allowed two preseason games. They can either be exhibition games or closed-door scrimmages with an opponent but they only get two of them. UNC and Florida had a scrimmage earlier this year.

Hmm, George Mason. That makes sense. Too bad we can't get them on our regular schedule.

MBB Game 1 Wake Forest
So one thing I learned from the NBN post game (shout out NBN) is that Dane is very aware of Yuri's turnover struggles and it's an active point of emphasis. I'm, personally, caught in a weird spot because I love Yuri's game, it's my favorite on the team. So I really, really want him to be good. But you just can't have a player out there who gives away so many opportunities (plus turnovers can lead to fast breaks the other way). I think one thing that would really help is to get the ball out of Yuri's hands. Tyler has shown he's more than capable of hitting passes. Let Yuri sprint all over and get open. Let him be a headache for defenses to cover. Tyler will find him with a pass.

I believe that to be true. If the opponent is non-DI you can allow fans to the exhibition/scrimmage, but if its a DI team then it has to be of the closed-door variety. Then once you hit the opening day of the season, those scrimmages count in some fashion on the record. Its silly, but not sure why teams cant scrimmage 2 non-DI's then get home and home series against other mids, versus doing home and home scrimmages. To me, everyone seems to be doing it wrong to help each other.
