Tigers vs Tulsa By The Numbers
This one is going to be very interesting.

Two very similar teams.

Both lacking self-confidence and both are unable to hold onto the ball.

Both QBs have a similar completion %.

While most of Seth's incompletions end up safely falling to the surface of the field.

A large number of Brin's incompletions end up in the hands of the wrong team.

A trend the Tigers must find a way to continue if they are going to have a chance.

A lot of this however is due to Brin not having a lot of time to complete his passes, another trend the Tigers must find a way to continue.

Unfortunately pressuring the QB and picking off passes are two things the Tigers do very poorly this year.

Needless to say, the Tigers MUST find a way to hold onto the ball.

However, they cannot be so concerned with holding onto the ball that the RBs become timid and scared of being yanked out of the game for the rest of the day if they screw up.

The patchwork OL has got to find a way to open holes in the running game and give Seth time to find the open receiver.

Seth cannot continue his habit of locking onto his primary receiver and not coming off him if he is covered.

Do not think Tigers are looking past anyone right now.

But I am concerned about if they have the confidence to fight back if they get behind or if the smallest thing goes wrong.

A road win in the conference will go a long way in helping the Tigers right the ship and finish the season strong.

There are enough weapons for the Tigers to do just that, especially with Tulsa's dismal special teams.

However, there is one small special team's difference between now and the last time the Tigers traveled to Tulsa.

This year they have an FG kicker.

We cannot expect them to miss a close one late in the game this year.

As Long has averaged 1.4 FG per game this year and more importantly.

HE HAS NOT MISSED ONE YET.

If and I do mean IF the Tigers can find a way to hold onto the ball and find a way to keep pressure on Brin there is no reason the Tigers cannot come away with the win.

If however, they fail to do either or both it could get ugly very quickly and demoralize a young team to the point they will play timidly for the remainder of the season.

And fold at the first sign of misfortune.

This has the potential to be the most important game of the season for the Tigers this season.

The Tigers can rush the passer effectively. The problem is the DC MMac likes to rush 3 ,and drop 6 deep in a prevent zone the entire game. The fact that the team is playing well in the face of this handicap imposed by Mac tells me they can do better with a better scheme.

We may have found the problem.

Aren't we allowed 11 on the field? No wonder we can't stop anybody, we are playing with a handicap.

04-cheers

Not just the BLITZ, but the BLITZ that results in a SACK or an INT. Many of them.

We need to start playing a 6-3-6. Bring pressure on the quarterback, linebackers to fill in the gaps, and 6 defensive backs to double every wide receiver. On obvious passing downs, rush 4 and drop 11.

15 players is a lot better than 9. Makes sense.

RE: Tigers vs Tulsa By The Numbers
Reading the TU message board, they lament their pass defense, saying it's atrocious. Then, looking at the numbers above...we are far worse. LOL!

Special teams numbers stand out. That very well could be the difference in the game, in our favor. All I know, is that if I go to the 8pm kick-off and have to sit in that stadium until midnight to watch us lose, I'm going to be very cranky.

Don't worry ... by the end of the game Tulsa's QB Brin will be in the Heisman discussion.

I like it although sadly our d-backs haven't been exactly stellar this season.
