Layne didn't seem to have any impact against Memphis.

Coastal will score as many points as they want. Our defense is that bad.

I was going to come to the game but something came up. I feel bad for you guys. Coastal is just too good this season and you are in the early rebuilding phase.

Eh, Coastal hasn't played anyone of note. But Arkansas State is on the list of "not anyone of note" so I expect Coastal to roll.
I'm semi hoping for a good game at least for TV purposes but I don't expect it.
If a Coastal fan asks though, tell them I think that they lose biggly.

Memphis St is our oldest rivalry game. Anything can, and usually does, happen. Kinda like y’all and Ga So.

Was Blake Anderson better than people gave him credit for? Or was this going to happen whether he was in Jonesboro or not?
I feel kind of bad for how he was run out of town and now seeing Arkansas State is the LOWEST RATED TEAM in the Sun Belt according to the Massey Composite.

Don't feel bad for Anderson. We are where we are at because of his recruiting. He recruited WR but O lineman and defense it was lousy. He should been run out of town after 2017. Utah State is starting to see what they got. On their board they are shaking their head. Some of the stupidest game decisions ever. Talk to others over here and none of us feel sorry for him.

Uhhh...no. The entirety of this mess was created by Blake. If anything the one saving grace for our program is that he's not here to screw it up farther...

Blake is in large part responsible for this. There are no words to describe how bad this defense is playing. Coastal will score at least 35 by half, then relax and end up near 60.

Fun fact, we've never won in Jonesboro.

We're on a streak of a lot of "never won against" or "on the road at" right now for CCU.

That's what happens when you start off slow / poorly transitioning to FBS. We won 6 total SBC games in our first 3 seasons.

Blake was a good dude who had a decent run with Astate (really should've had another conference title, 2 more bowl victories and beaten a Ranked Missouri in 2015 and Nebraska in 2017), who had an awful personal tragedy happen to him and his family, but his refusal to bow out and to try to keep coaching with his wife's illness and unfortunate passing has resulted in where we're at today
Also by all accounts I've heard from others, he was more like the "cool, frat dad" that didn't want to be viewed as the bad guy or overly bearing when it came to the players

Does he play defense? 59 points to Georgia Southern...
In other news, you must have a toddler up in the middle of the night as well.
Exactly. QB play is not the problem. Either QB can get it done but the defense has been decimated by ten years of neglect. The defensive talent that Roberts recruited and left for Freeze, Malzahn and Harsin was a step above what Blake has been signing in recent years. Some of it was just bad luck and timing with what was going on in his personal life but it is going to take some time to rebuild the defense and the OL.
Good news is that Blake is the only coach at ASU that ever had the chance to recruit with top notch facilities and stipends. You can already see a difference in the commitments under Butch that come with utilizing those resources in an aggressive and organized manner.

Your team hasn’t played anyone of note either. Lost to a 2-3 Miami team and squeaked out a ref aided win vs a Marshall team that lost to Middle East Tennessee or some such? Yeah, your schedule is really packed with quality.

Yeah App's close Miami loss and close Marshall win not looking nearly as strong either. Hopefully Coastal can play better than our last road trip to pick up our first win in Jonesboro. I'd think we'd be pumped and motivated about having a lot of "first things" this year.

Please don't kill whoever we start at QB. You'll get plenty of opportunities too, but they are young kids and have families. Don't do it.
Don’t worry about that. Our defense is a joke.
However, you can count on our offense breaking the ankles of your DB’s.
The past 2 weeks you’ve given up 9 points.

Miami has lost to UVA, Michigan State, and Alabama....
Not all 2-3 records are created equal.
You've played Kansas...whose lone win was by 3 points over South Dakota (not even SDSU), Buffalo (squeaked by), UMass, ULM, and El Cit...
App has played ECU, Miami, Elon, Marshall, and Georgia State (who should've beat Auburn). There is no compari-son, son.
But first you have to do something you've never done before...win in raucous Jonesboro on what is sure to be a HYPED Thursday night.
Why did Arkansas State lose to GS? They spent all week prepping for Coastal. In truth, playing GS and Coastal back to back would be a benefit for a team with a pulse since both run a fork of the option.
