P5 refs protecting P5 teams, color me shocked. I wish our conference teams could negotiate neutral officials. Because boy do they like some home cooking
Unless something has changed, the SEC and Sun Belt share the same pool of refs.
That is not true, never has been. They are under the same umbrella, but there are SEC refs and there are Sun Belt refs. They are not interchangeable.

This is the silver lining. No matter what, Chip is out. And Troy won't have to pay him a dime.
That’s not correct.
Is his contract not done and through at the end of the season? What else would he be owed?
He has a four year deal. Troy had an option to pickup his fifth year, after year one, but did not pick it up.
Tough to recruit when a prospect doesn’t know how long you will be there. I thought most schools at FBS level kept at least a 4 year contract in place for that very reason.

I'm always amazed that recruits sign anywhere that a coach gets fired from, but you see it happen all the time. I'd love someone with insight to explain it to me, because I thought one of the biggest factors for a recruit was the coach and his staff. If a player commits when there's an intern coach, there's no guarantee that he won't clean house when he comes in, and the player could not only lose the guy who recruited him, but also hate the new staff.
I guess the transfer portal helps this a lot, but it doesn't explain how it used to happen. Off season coaching searches for GaSo and Troy will be fun to watch. Hopefully y'all can hold onto any good recruits you already signed.
