***Official Football Gamethread: EMU at NIU***
The coaches know what they have and have built a team to run, run and run. They pass when they have to like last series at GT.
When I reviewed the team in spring and fall practices I noted that Rocky threw a couple passes to LBers or had them tipped. Was it a blip or a trend? Seems more of a trend.
Rocky to Richie was a strong connection but it was against the NIU pass D.
Now the accuracy and timing has been off even with the 12 to 3 connection. I recall the in curl route Richie ran and Rocky threw as if it was a slant.

Rocky stares down receivers, look at the replays, his helmet doesn't turn. He has a STRONG arm, fires too may fast balls, could use some finesse on more throws. Good MAC QB, tough and competes. Not excellent at any one thing, but toughness which is a good thing. Hammocks 3rd year and we have not seen a HS recruit take the reins. We might have two in this true Fr class that can play.

Said this earlier, also said by others (taking no exclusive credit here) but sometimes things are worth repeating, so ...
"Remember that 2-point conversion vs GT. And he scored the first TD in this (EMU) one. Also, some critics forget he's out there because the coaches and -- most important -- fellow players trust him to manage the offense and give a young team some confidence and stability. Success with The Hard Way is not a straight line but a zig-zag."
That said, Lombardi has made some critical passes when needed, but overall is not a great passer.

Nice!
I wasn't even in high school yet.
Remind me again why we left the MAC?

I played a pick up basketball game during my freshman year. Guarded him. I was not slow back then but he went by me like nothing. Found out later who he was. Quickest guy I ever played against. Same game Todd Peat dunked a basketball. I was going to stop him baseline but realized I was only 160 and he was over 300. He was more athletic than the fridge.

Assuming you're talking about this year, yes the RB room is stacked. We have three really good backs plus Lombardi. If Ducker was ahead of Brown...damn.

BEAT Toledo!
If the coaches see Rocky everyday then they know he isn’t very accurate. So maybe it’s improvement from the coaches we are looking for more than the players. No different than Nagy/Trubisky. Mitch was a limited player but Nagy never adjusted. Is there something Hammock can do to help Rocky be his best?
Rabid do you see Rocky every day?
Personally, I believe there is a major difference between Trubisky and Lombardi both in age and experience. However, since you are such a QB Whisperer, just cut to the chase and contact Hammock and his staff on what they should do "to help Rocky be his best?"

Similar story.
My roommates were athletic trainers and they'd all (the trainers) get together and play basketball in the field house on Tuesday nights. I'd always play with them. Every once in a while, Hollis Thomas would come and play with us. For some odd reason, I'd always have to guard him even though he outweighed me by about 80 pounds.
One evening, we got frisky and decided to play full court. As you know, in pickup basketball, the guy who guards you is typically the guy you guard so Hollis and I were guarding each other.
The play when up the floor to his offensive end and the second we got there, there was a steal and the ball went the other way (to my offensive end of the floor). I started to run that direction and then completely stopped because Hollis had taken a fist full of my shirt in his hand. I turned around and looked at him and he said, "nah son, we ain't going down there...they're coming right back".
I said "whatever you say" and the two of us just stood at the other end of the court for about 15 seconds and then the ball was back down with us.

Yeah, him too. And off-topic, but Jorgensen was MBB coach. THOSE were GREAT days. The pups have no idea how good it was.

I once got Larry English's mail. As in, the wind blew it to my doorstep. This was in the back of the Regent Dr neighborhood.
