If you are not aware, the Blue Oval name is for Ford. Ford is building a huge new plant in Haywood country. They are calling it Blue Oval City. The Ford logo is a blue oval.

The idea is to get Ford to help pay for an OCS by building Blue Oval Stadium.

Is that a modified rendering of an expansion concept for Happy Valley. I’m more inclined to favor a modified Tulane than PSU.

If Ford got involved, there'd be enough $$ to buy up an area off Spottswood at the main campus, east towards Goodlett & south towards the south campus that gets close to connecting the campuses, provides good access & meets the OCS ideal. But most importantly, the stadium must be owned & operated by the university.

Ford just came out with hands-free cruise control.

Set it and sit back with hands off the wheel.

Yea right.

Do you realize Ford’s market cap is smaller that FedEx? It’s not all that big of a company.

My 2016 Subie has it.

Works great in rush hour traffic, literally never touch the gas or break.

Coupled with Lane Assist, the car almost drives itself.

I would much prefer the 80k seat Lincoln Dome built in Arlington near where 385 crosses 240. Home of the Memphis Jaguars (change the name when they move here).

Now I know why we have so many accidents these days.

I won't even use regular cruise control unless I am out on the interstate and even then only in good weather.

I’ve never been in an accident, but you have to assume some type of mechanical failure could occur.

That’s why I don’t sleep while my car is driving.

Your comment only focused on YOUR driving.

The problem is the OTHER idiots on the road, something an auto cruise system cannot take into account.

Great idea.
Sounds familiar.
I do like the rendering though.

We have more accidents b/c there are more cars on the roads now.

Time for the university to woo Ford for its new stadium. University of Memphis football can compete at the highest level with the proper resources. A sleeping giant…academically and athletically.

Nice picture, I appreciate the end zone tarp & how the seats appear to go more vertical & straight up vs sloping & outward, but am disappointed not seeing a jumbo screen.

Have you any clue how many accidents these systems PREVENT? They won’t get sleepy and nod off. They don’t get distracted texting and hunting for radio stations. They don’t drive high. They don’t drive drunk.

Does tech fail? Sometimes yes, but tally the fatalities occurring in autonomous/semiautonomous drive systems and compare them to fatalities due to human error.

It means Ford still owes $20 Million on their sponsorship of Ford Field in Detroit. They’re not big enough to dump huge amounts of cash on another stadium here.
