It will at least be better than last season’s garbage.

Yes. It's all warm and fuzzy right now and we have yet to see anything concrete. That said, just seeing guys back who had one foot out the door says a lot. I'm tempering my expectations this season but thankful for a fresh start and for a coach who doesn't twitch and fidget in front of the camera.

i really like memphis' chances. that's a border line g-league team. rooting for penny. kelvin sampson truly has built a remarkable program. he could lose his best player at any time (grimes to the draft, mills to fsu, and someone else?) and all the publications just shrug it off and rank em high anyway cuz they know kelvin delivers. i hope his son is able to maintain that. i think they should go a different route cuz how often does that scenario work out? one of the miller boys would work out well i imagine

that's it i believe; and then there's a precipitous drop off. i don't have any faith in wichita and smoo. faith to do what? temple sucks, the floridas - maybe ucf can be team no 3 with all that experience - suck, tulane, tulsa, carolina, we should be in competition by default. down down year and it doesn't look to improve

I think your assessment of the American is spot on. Regardless of some off the court baggage (and we've known others who have succumbed to that) Kelvin is a tremendous coach and a run to the Final Four certainly did nothing but help Houston's case for Big XII membership. Memphis is loaded with talent and the Tigers actually leveraging that for a great season and national ranking does nothing but help the AAC gain some respect this year--and perhaps multiple bids in the NCAA. And yes, I would say SMU and WSU both have some big question marks as to their ability to produce wins on a big stage.

What no votes for UC?

Didn't they know we hired the next Dean Smith?

What is wrong with these voters?

For anyone worried about Koval in a walking boot in that picture at the ND game, he was moving fine at the practice before the game saturday.

Congrats to Mick Cronin. I was certainly one of those people who felt Mick had maxed out his potential at UC and wasn't going to get us any further. Mick has proven he can take his team to a very high level now that he has the resources and P5 conference affiliation.

How could it be? Only one team from the new Big East in the preseason top 25--old reliable Villanova. Two teams from the American.

Cincinnati.com had a headline yesterday about where X ranked in the preseason poll. I opened it only to find they're not ranked--just receiving votes. I guess the XU sports information director complained to the editor about all the "feel good" copy UC is generating these days.

To hear their fans speak, they've had top recruiting classes each year AND play in the world's best conference. Apparently the poll voters haven't noticed.

Fabulous. We are in for a year of snark, comments about wives and short jokes from the resident Mr. Grumpy Pants.

if you are referring to the "secret" scrimmage against Indiana, I read that IU cancelled it.

Supposedly UC rescheduled against Detroit Mercy (?).

Indiana still upset about the football game?

RE: 2021/22 Bearcats Basketball Season Thread
Probably the quietest it's ever been 15 days before tipoff for UC basketball. Having the #2 ranked football team keeps the focus on the gridiron and I'm guessing Wes doesn't really mind that as he's got his work cut out for him trying to put all the pieces together to hit the ground running.

It's good to see Nelson, Logan, and Jackson sporting the Red and Black and back closer to the program in the case of Steve and A.D. From what I'm hearing, Wes made it a priority to reconnect with former players and invite their input and presence. Good for him as that's been lacking at times.

We won't know how the pieces fit for a few weeks but I have the strangest feeling that this bunch will take down X. Hey, it is 2021 when BIG things are happening in Bearcat Athletics so I'll count on it.

Anyone have an idea on how parking passes will work this year? I’ve got the placeholder in my digital tickets but there is no barcode or anything to scan for entry. I can’t imagine they will update the pass before each game.
