Only DeJulius. Third team.

It's a sad state of affairs.

RE: Conference Awards
I figured Dejulius would be getting some type of honor, but yes, it's pretty sad when we can't get any recognition in the AAC.

RE: Conference Awards
I think DDJ deserves it. He elevated his play in conference, even if the rest of his team didn't.

RE: Conference Awards
Just to add to the above, DDJ is the AAC's 6th-leading scorer at 15.9 ppg in conference play. If you had told me 3 or 4 months ago that DDJ was going to average nearly 16 points per game in conference play, I for sure would have guessed we were a tournament team.

Normally every team gets someone on the AAC list someplace.

Not sure opposing coaches sweat too much game planning against DDJ..

I went to a coaching clinic with Huggs years back when I was still coaching…said even sisters of the poor is going to score 50 points a game against Duke…someone has to score those points…if there is a stat collector you don’t worry about him too much…just cover him like you would anyways..…Just don’t let the rest of the team out of their lane and the rest takes care of itself.

Surprising yet gives some hope for a struggling program with talent issues.

7 or 8 of the AAC’s 1st and 2nd team all conference selections landed at their current school via the transfer portal.

This is an excellent point. I should point out Gonzaga has killed the transfer game for years (though because they now get elite freshman recruits too they aren't as dependent). However, Nemhard and Bolton are both key contributors that were transfers.

Baylor has also been excellent at finding transfers to fit their team. Last year's national championship team had Mitchell who was an Auburn transfer and Teague who was a UNC Ashville Transfer...those two lead Baylor in minutes. Additionally, Flagler was a Presbyterian transfer and Tchatchoa was a UNLV transfer and both played significant minutes

So true; this isn't like rebuilding a talent depleted football program. Not that UC is ready now to pick up a transfer of the quality Gonzaga and Baylor got, but a capable player or two from the portal along with three incoming freshmen who are pretty highly regarded, and this team can compete for the postseason in the American next season. Home losses to Tulane, Temple, and USF were aberrations. Flip those and UC would at least be looking at NIT brackets at the end of this week.

And I know, the NIT is not where we want to be. But I expect Wes to show progress and be pointing UC toward the NCAA again very soon. He'll certainly have strength of schedule in his favor in the Big 12 and we see what that's done for an erratic X team this year.
