I see a couple of local kids who played high school ball here in Wilmington but they are not on the roster . I also heard there was a Air Force Academy transfer player who I didn't see and he is not on the roster . Assuming the locals are just practice guys ? One kid from Laney and the other from Hoggard who was actually a decent player there . I saw Laney play last year two games and don't remember this kid at all . Maybe the Air Force player is not here ?

The Air Force Academy transfer is in the video. He's the guy standing next to Shy when they break the huddle at the beginning, not listed on the roster yet though.

The Air Force kid is #24. Kind of stocky white kid. He's in the first video shot guarding Simms and in other shots.

He was a walk-on. Thinking about the timing when he showed up, makes me wonder if he was brought on to replace the freshman we lost from SC. This guy is a 3 or. shooter but a scrappy player from what I saw in practice.

May be a scholarship issue. They'd have to take it from the other guy. Or, he may just remain a walk-on. Not sure how any of that would look. I do know he can shoot the rock

I thought we had the ability to have more scolly's this year with Covid issues? Funding them might be different story....

Remind me who we lost. Drawing a blank here but admittedly a bit disconnected this off-season.

The Air Force transfer is Logan Morrissey, who obviously had some connection to Kanaskie. Good shooter that comes from the same AAU program, E1T1, that produced Kevin Knox and Joel Berry II.

The local kid from Laney, Makoa Surigao, seems to have the reputation of a pass-first point guard and a really high-character kid.

Interesting to see that he also attended USAFA prep with Trazarien White. Kanaskie brought in two kids that he recruited while at Air Force.

What happened to Will McCracken? He showed up to summer practice and left. He isn’t listed as a transfer on VC.

He seems to have lost interest in the game. He was putting forth little effort in individual workouts, including in the weight room. It's my understanding than coaches sat down with him and came an agreement that this is not where he wanted to be. Looks like he may not pursue playing anywhere at all. Hopefully he will discover what he wants in life soon. Whether it's basketball or some other endeavor.

RE: First Practice
Good insight 33! It's not for everyone for sure because it's basically like a job if you think about it. My youngest son is exceptional at soccer but he's not going to play for his HS team and wants to focus primarily on his academics and also band. It happens-not for everyone as in the case of the UNCW player. We stress academics first so I'm proud of him.

It's good to be talking hoops again fellas! I really hope that this team can make it happen. There were some good signs in year 1 but it ended badly. I've got a feeling that this year will be a good one, just a hunch. Hope the injury bug doesn't get us like last year. We definitely seem to have more depth, athleticism and length this year.

Since idiotic quarantine protocols are still in place, injuries are of far less concern than being prevented from playing due to protocols.

I understand how you feel about the policies, and nothing wrong with posting about them. Some adjectives just aren’t needed though, thanks.
