You talking Bobby Parks? Loved that guy...

Yep the most underrated TIGER in history

I'm not sure how under-rated he was. We all knew he was a phenom...

He was underrated because he was playing with the greatest Tiger of all (at least at that time) in K. Lee. A couple of other starters were pretty darn good too…Doom, Baskerville, and Turner. Loved that team.

I didn't say they were the only ones or even that they were the cream of the crop. There's a ton of other names you can add to that list. But they were ballers who each had an impact. Maybe I should have said lesser royalty just for your edification.

This is very likely our most talented team ever.

When Timberlake, Alo and Lawson are your 6th, 7th and 8th guys you have a ton of talent. All three of those guys could start on most top 20 teams.

We should be a legit top 10 team this year with a real chance to win it all.

I'm not ready to say this is the most talented team ever in Tiger history. People are saying that strictly on draft stock. We have to be careful looking strictly at pro potential to judge a college team. How many pros do you see on this team? Duren, Bates, Minott and ......? That won't even crack the top 5 of teams with future pros in Tiger history.

Personally I think the Keith Lee Final 4 team in 85 was our best team. That team had 4 pros (Lee, Turner, Askew and Bedford) a consensus All-American with Becton, Boyd and Bailey coming off the bench.

The 08 team has been the most accomplished with their record and all. That team had a first team all American (CDR) with 4 pros on that team as well (AA, Rose, CDR and Dorsey).

Cal's 06 team was more talented with 6 pros (AA, CDR, Shawn Williams, Rodney Carney, Dorsey, Darius Washington) 1 McDonalds All-American and Dozier, Andre Allen coming off the bench, than 08.

The 02 team at 3 pros (earl Barron, DeJuan Wagner and Antonio Burks) but Chris Massie coming off the bench. That team had 9 losses and couldn't win CUSA. They won the NIT though.

92 Elite 8 team had 3 pros (Todd Mundt, David Vaughn, Penny) and 2 McDonalds All Americans

95 Sweet 16 team had 4 pros (Henderson, Vaughn, Wright, Garner) and 4 McDonalds AA (Duece Ford)

2012 NCAA team had 4 pros (D.J. Stephens, Adonis Thomas, Tarik Black, Will Barton) along with Joe Jackson, Wesley Witherspoon, Charles Carmouche, and Chris Crawford.

Looking at the past teams we shouldn't be so quick to say a team is talented just off pro potential.

RE: Tiger Basketball Practice
I believe we have 4 or 5 NBA players on this years squad.

Nolley and Timberlake are possibilities.

Quinones is imo most definitely a NBA 2 guard. He just does everything well.

Bates and Duren are lottery picks.

Maybe one more of the newcomers.

We have had some great teams for sure but I don't believe we have ever been this deep.

We are a legitimate 8-10 deep and just practicing against each other we should become a very, very legitimate threat to make a deep run come March.

But as you say he does everything well at the college level...He needs to be great at something to make the league or be physically gifted...Maybe his shot gets to that level

We probably have a lot of great D1 players, but as things stand right now, Nolley and LQ are not NBA players. IMO, LQ is the quintessential very good D1 player who isn't good enough to play in the NBA. Not quick enough, not athletic enough, not a good enough ballhandler; but a GREAT player. I haven't seen a healthy Timberlake play a single game. It will all depend on his outside shot.

The 2008 team would have beaten the 1985 team the same way it beat Michigan State, Texas and UCLA. We killed teams with little point guards. The 2008 team might have lost to Oklahoma; but even Oklahoma lost 6 games during the season with a lot of close calls.

The 2008 team was two baskets away from being arguably the greatest NCAA team of all time.

And let's also hear it for Derrick Phillips, who did some heavy lifting of his own, allowing Keith Lee to be an even greater impact player.

Our only problem back then was Phi Slamma Jamma….2 years in a row. They were just a little bit better.

Wasn't Parks a Sporting News AA? I loved the guy, but he wasn't really under-rated. I know fans of different teams from all over the country who still remember him.

This team has 2 lotto guys. Then there are Minott and Timberlake who have shown up on draft boards. Finally there are Landers, Deandre, and LQ who have been mentioned by gurus.

Best guess...4 or 5 of these players make an NBA roster at some point.
