Agree 100%. I still remember how devastated I was when Parks was injured by a guy diving for a loose ball and plowing right into his knee. It ended his season and I think it was during the NCAA tournament. We would have won it all with Parks playing.

It was actually a regular season game against Florida State a little over halfway into season. Last name Schaeffer was the player's name.

I stand corrected then. Should have done my research first, but thanks for the info. Didn't Big Jack give him the "Beautiful Bobby" nickname? I think his other nickname was "Big Country".

I too always thought the Tigers would have won the national championship that year if Bobby hadn't been lost to that injury. He later played pro ball in the Philippines for quite a few years and was an absolute legend, averaging over 50ppg one season and over 40 for his career there.

Yep. And I was there very close by. I may be wrong, but you’ll never convince me that it wasn’t intentional. I loved Bobby Park. He and Doom were unstoppable. If only, if only. . .

I didn't say they were the only ones or even that they were the cream of the crop. There's a ton of other names you can add to that list. But they were ballers who each had an impact. Maybe I should have said lesser royalty just for your edification.

That is one Tiger memory I still vividly remember. I was 15 at the time and it literally has stayed with me this all these years. Schaeffer was always dirty and cheap shot artist, and I hated him to his very core as a teen even before he took out Parks.
I miss that time in our history though. The post games with Big Jack and Dana were a thing of beauty to listen to. There will never be another Big Jack.
