ESPN in the 90s
I just watched the “PTI” retrospective (it’s terrific). But it made me realize I completely forget who it (and it’s progeny) replaced on ESPN. Anyone remember?

RE: ESPN in the 90s
I really wasn't doing too many of their shows in the 90s even though I did watch some Jim Rome late night stuff with them(believe that was ESPN2). Then the proper era for NFL PrimeTime was another top show for me to watch when I got home from work on Sunday nights so I could keep up with the NFL games of the day.

The show preceding Sports Center was a talk show originally titled, "Mazda Sportslook" and later "Up Close". Roy Firestone was the original host and later hosted by Gary Miller. It was canceled for PTI.

Up Close was pretty solid.

NFL Primetime of that era was legendary.

Nanci Donnelley, aka The Fabulous Sports Babe was simulcast on ESPN2, not ESPN.
