We aren't the problem. They are.

Can you do that?

If you can't, then get on the OCS train.

MEMPHIS MEMORIAL STADIUM was not the reason that we were not #2 on everybodys list only behind Cindy

You are increasingly in the minority with that opinion, not just here but the collective views of B-12 media. BTW, since you have repeated your opinion over & over, please share what the reasons are.

Really B12 media ----? please provide link where the BIG12 said that we were not #2 on everybodys list only behind Cindy---because we don't have an OCS---please show me the official statement from the BIG12 stating such fake news

What? FYI the B-12 just invited Cincy, UH, UCF & BYU that's 4 schools, all ahead of us, all have OC athletic facilities. Official statement? SMH when was the last time any conference issued an official statement as to why they didn't invite someone? CBS has put out a statement, every media source that covers the B-12 has stated playing in rented municipal facilities is a major consideration against inviting Memphis. Immediately after the invitations, USF announced a plan for an OCS & Dr. Rudd said he would be speaking to the legislature about OCS funding. Are you that clueless?

Still waiting on your reasons why not having an OCS was NOT a consideration.... and your supporting links.

RE: Liberty Bowl Thoughts
The Liberty Bowl stadium was not why we did not initially receive an invite to B12. THE REASON was the overall philanthropic giving and self sustaining endownment was the lowest of all schools being considered.

We have to improve this substantially.

Endowments are used by college rankings but HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ATHLETIC PROGRAM FUNDING. If they did the Ivy League would be the dominate athletic conference. University owned facilities demonstrate financial commitment to the athletics program. Renting municipal facilities does not. Endowments are very important, they fund distinguished chairs, additional research programs but virtual never provides any funding for athletics or athletic facilities.

RE: Liberty Bowl Thoughts
If you could drop in a stadium on the main campus with the footprint of SMU's then great, build it on campus.

If you have to build something on the South Campus, no thanks, I'd just as soon stay at the Liberty Bowl and renovate it. It's really not that old and not too long ago it was the nicest stadium in a 200 mile radius.

What about a Philips Arena style wall of suites style set up with the current Liberty Bowl? After the first 30-40 rows build a wall of suites up and let them slowly decrease in height until you get close to the end zone line, It could also block the sun on the other side of the LB.

Sure $100M+ will get you started & it's still a rented 56 yr old municipal stadium, not on campus & not owned by our university.

It's certainly no guarantee but it is a major factor. Also an OCS gets alumni back on campus, increases alumni giving, increases student participation & increases revenues to the university - all of these things & more even if we don't get the invite.

All this assumes that a sufficient number of alumni with money and students care that much about football. Keep in mind that the student body of the university is diversifying rapidly in favor of demographic groups that aren’t traditionally big college football fans. The days when university student bodies were overwhelmingly made up of white guys is over. Women outnumber men in colleges now.

The whole model of building your big public universities around football in America is suspect and we should be careful not to overcommit to it.

Then widen the field of the OCS to accommodate men's and women's soccer matches. They could play Lacrosse there too. Problem solved. 07-coffee3

Good thing Big XII presidents don't rely on you to gauge the average IQ of this fanbase.

We tried to go to the Memphis section, but you had to leave the whole stadium to get to the other side of the stadium. That's almost junior high level. And yes, so we bought two more tickets to get to the other side of the same stadium we had already bought tickets to.

Haven't you grasped it yet

The people on this board don't want a stadium that seats 60k---they want a 22k seat stadium ----therefore they can look down their nose on the 40k poor REAL TIGER FANS that can't afford season tickets or donations to the school.

REMEMBER if you have only been going to 1-3 games per year for the last 40 years---because you can;t afford season tickets---then you are not a real fan. ONLY THE DESERVING 25k are worthy of attendance ----the POOR MONEY WISE TIGER fans need to know their place

... and quit being so disingenuous. No one on this board has advocated for a 22K stadium. Further the actual poor do not have any discretionary income to attend FB games at any price. This is not about depriving the poor even with the wildest imagination. But I think everyone should pay their own way to games except where philanthropic generosity provides for the privilege otherwise..... and there is a distinct difference between a right & a privilege.

An on-campus facility was needed 10 years ago… and most urgently now.
The Liberty Bowl is fine for the SHC & the bowl game but it lacks for a collegiate environment & alumni experience. It’s time to smoke the bowl & move on-campus.
