Not sure it really would have mattered . . even IF they’d come to The Belt, how long would they have stayed.
For reasons I still can’t fathom (probably leadership, and that’s why I can’t fathom it), that program has a knack for Falling Forward . . .
They’re like an annoying Brother in Law who turns everything he touches into Gold.
UNT is the same. Failing upward.
. . . admittedly I’m biased, but I’d say to a lesser extent. UNT has had recent success in both Football and Basketball (which you can’t say about the Runners).
. . and their Facilities are head and shoulders better than that crap you find on the nUTSAck campus. If they (utsa) weren’t renting the cities Dome for Football, I can’t imagine where they’d play on Saturdays.
I’d say that both schools have experienced their share of growth. I give UNT an appreciable edge in recent success and facilities . . . enough so that their falling forward I get . . . at least more so than nUTSAck . . them, I just scratch my head.
Now if only UNT would restart their Baseball Program . . . .

UNT has spent on facilities and basketball is much better. Their football had a couple good years and now UTSA is having their good year. Overall, G5 programs in Texas are....lacking. Houston may have been pretty decent but they spend at a much higher level.

It seems pretty well established that Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech reached out. That UTEP didn't isn't a surprise, and FIU's administrative negligence is par for the course. Middle Tennessee is surprising though.
FIU administers May have been hoping for a CUSA collapse so they could have an excuse to close up shop.
"May have" or did?
