Bounced back and forth among all four local stations' sports broadcasts on Monday night, and there was not a single story of our game this week. Not even a mention.

That is not good. If ever there was a time that you would expect (or hope) to have a lot of coverage the week of a game, it would be this one.

Not really surprising, but very disappointing.

Local tv sports coverage has been slashed about as much as the al dot com coverage. They get barely enough time to exhale much less do anything of substance

I understand that. Fox-6 doesn't even use a sports anchor/reporter--just has their news anchors read a few stories and show a few clips of Saban's press conference (and Bo Nix's Zoom call). The other stations all had full sports segments with 3 to 4 stories--mostly about Bama-Ole Miss, and the AU "quarterback controversy." They also spent time talking about whether OU and Texas would be playing in the SEC sooner than 2025, which isn't exactly a timely story.

Surely they could spare 10 seconds at the end to mention one of the most significant sporting events in Birmingham in decades.

Of course, one would expect the UAB SID office to be helping them out, doing their work for them, providing them a sound bite or two--just to get a mention of the game. But I guess one would expecct too much.

Mainly about the parkings and the forecast, but the game itself? nah.

Surprising to me that people still watch local new broadcasts. Guess old habits and such.

I usually don't myself watch it much myself any more, even as an old-timer. I can't take the incessant Covid talk in every newscast, even still.

But our Prime movie ended around 10:15, just in time for the local weather/sports, so I flipped it over to the see any updates on Saturday's weather, and what kind of coverage we were getting for the game. Nice weather, zero coverage.

It's a waste of time looking for sports coverage of UAB on any of the local channels. ABC 33/40 is the best place to watch highlights followed by NBC 13 and the latter is horrible. NBC will show highlights of UAB losing a fumble or throwing an INT even when they win. And CBS 42 is turrible.

The beauty of the internet is seeing your team's press conference, highlights, etc. without waiting for broadcast news to talk about it.04-rock
