Most FBS players opted to start their pro career vs staying for a sixth year.

A lot of top fcs players transferred to fbs instead of playing spring ball, so there was a talent drain at the top of fcs

You mean most top FBS players. Most FBS don't have a pro career.

That's easy. They simply have a lot of players that will never see the field whereas it gives FCS teams true depth. Lots of FCS/FBS games start out close but get blown open in the second half as the FBS teams wear the FCS teams down.
