RE: 2021 College Football TV Ratings - Sun Belt
Marshall @ App State - ESPN – 1,014,000 viewers

This is probably why schools like Marshall and Southern Miss would like to be in the SBC.

Over the last decade, Marshall has never had a nationally televised CUSA matchup with over 1 million viewers. As a matter of fact, they've had very few nationally televised CUSA matchups.

The ESPN deal we have is one reason why the SBC and our school brands have grown at a rapid pace over the past decade.

Wasn’t the Coastal Kansas game on Friday? Or am I misremembering?

Louisiana and App played in SBC's first ever 1 million viewer conference game last year.

Not counting Conference championship games, the AAC only did that twice in 2019 and in 2020 it was four times, but all those games had B12 invites.

If both teams come in at 4-1 and have good showings this week, then it will be the 2nd one million SBC game. There is a huge push in and around Lafayette to get people out to the game. Hopefully they show up like Y’all’s did for Marshall.

We have only had one game on actual ESPN not reach 1 million viewers and that was our FCS game last year vs EKU which had 980k viewers.

Marshall Average rating per channel since 2013:

ESPN: 1.804 Million (4 games over 2 Million)
CBS: 1.25 Million (1 game vs App St)
ESPN2: 752k
ESPNU: 436k
FS1: 284k

But you are correct, we don't get many chances with the current CUSA media deal and we want to get back in bed with the mouse for obvious reasons.

Yes, but I said CUSA matchups. Marshall has never had a CUSA matchup with over 1 million viewers in the past 10 years.

In the SBC, you'd hit that mark against a few teams.

Yeah.....cause we haven't had any CUSA matchups on ESPN lol

That's exactly why I'm ready to move to the Sun Belt.

Coastal will probably be ranked 25th that week after taking an L on October 20th. At least they will manage to stay in the polls though. Will be great to have two SBC teams ranked in the same division.

Who were your opponents in those 1M+ viewer games?
The 435k on ESPNU is very good. Hard to get over 250k on that channel.

What?!?

2019-2020 AAC Intra-Conference Games over 1 million viewers
2019 CCG MEM-CIN 2.88 million
2019 CIN-MEM 2.510 million
2019 USF-UCF 1.760 million
2019 SMU-MEM 2.950 million
2019 UCF-CIN 1.440 million
2019 HOU-TUL 1.030 million
2020 CCG CIN-TULS 1.88 million
2020 CIN-UCF 1.58 million
2020 HOU-CIN 1.390 million
2020 UCF-MEM 1.900 million
2020 NAVY-TULA 1.350 million

11 games over two years and only three of them are leaver vs leaver. Two of the eleven are stayer vs stayer. The BIGGEST number is stayer vs stayer.

OOC games that we own - home and homes with "P5" conference schools, ND at Navy a respectable chunk of the ESPN deal - obviously have value too.
2019-2020 AAC Conference Inventory (but ooc) games over 1 million viewers
2019 WSU-HOU 2.070 million
2019 MISS-MEM 1.880 million
2019 WISC-USF 1.800 million
2019 UCLA-CIN 1.630 million
2020 BYU-HOU 1.160 million
2020 ARMY-CIN 1.080 million
2020 BYU-NAVY 1.150 million
2020 ArkSt-MEM 1.030 million

Eight high value ooc games in the inventory, and half are stayers, half are leavers.
