Mungumry Blazer, Butch Harris, has died while in New Orleans for the Tulane game
From his son Will:
Hello friends and family… I have some terrible news. After arriving in New Orleans yesterday for our UAB @ Tulane football road trip and having a fun evening, my dad Butch Harris tragically passed away last night. Even up until his passing he was full of jokes, full of love for his family, and was doing what he loved, being on a UAB sports road trip. He is my best friend, a loving father and family member, a great friend to many, and a diehard UAB, Colts, and Dodgers fan. My family is hurting right now with the loss of our “Chief”. Kind thoughts, prayers, well wishes, your favorite memories of him, etc are all welcomed. I love you dad. I wish I could give you a hug one more time and tell you how much you mean to me. My life won’t be the same without you.

It has been many years since my own dad's death in 1988, but in every FB season I still get the notion to give him a call about a game on TV. After him, I called my brother but he is gone since 1/27/21 as well. You will continue to miss those family moments for the rest of your own days. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

My own dad died in 2007, just days after I brought him to his first and only BlazerTalk tailgate. It was the last time he and I spent together. I know exactly what you mean.

I am in the same situation. Watched sports with my dad my entire life until he passed in August of 2019. Now I also call my brother to talk about the Blazers. The worst for me is getting the urge to call and tell him something about his grand kids. Hits me in the gut every time.
My heart goes out to Mr. Harris' son and his whole family. It's been two years for me and I am still very much grieving.

Hey guys, it’s Will Harris. Thank you for all of your kind words. He always loved getting on Blazertalk and reading through the messages. He was a true bleed green & gold Blazer that was there from the very beginning. Keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. Go Blazers
