Combination of things. Our starting QB was a little off, receivers dropped a few passes when he wasn't, a couple dumb penalties in or near the red zone. We also made a not great decision to kick a pair of long FGs into the wind (both wide right). Fortunately, our QB #2 came off the bench in the second half and played with his hair on fire, and our receivers found their hands.

Buffalo doing their best to try and blow the ODU game. Really awful 1st and 3rd Qtrs. ODU with a good chance to cut the deficit to 7 early in 4th.

Looks like ODU scored a TD with less than a minute to go!

A penalty on ODU backed them up for their XP try and the kicker missed.

ODU Freshmen QB #7 came off the bench to celebrate the touchdown. He picked up an unsportsmanlike penalty and cost his team a chance to send the game into overtime.

Oh great. We hired a coach that thinks when you're ahead 35-7 at halftime that you should come out and play a vanilla offense and prevent defense with no blitzing the entire half. Never ceases to amaze how many coaches call a scared game when they have a lead.

At least we won I guess.

So happy they flagged ODU for an unsportsmanlike call after their TD. UB racked up so many 15 yard penalties in this game we were definitely due for one in our favor. UB didn’t win this, they hung on. There should be a separate column for those kind of W’s.

Nothing new here. Army has always been a run first and almost always team. If they have more than 50 passing yards per game, that is a bonus.
