I really get the feeling we have a lot of talent who are playing special teams, etc. because there is so much experienced talent ahead of them in the 2-deeps.

Agreed. What we are now seeing for the 1st time ever is the pay-off from all the 3 stars we started getting. Awesome to see the depth we now have and how that depth pushes guys to play better.

2021: 15 three stars
2020: 17 three stars
2019: 10 three stars
2018: 8 three stars

True but there are also a lot of guys like Banaham Knue Westmoreland on this team as well. The staff does an excellent job of scouting talent to fit their system.

100% Sir! Scouting AND development for sure! Mad Maxx Crosby only had one FBS scholarship offer and look where he is now. Beydoun was enrolled at EMU already and decided walk on and try football.

I don't want to discount recruiting, it is VERY important, but Dantonio at MSU made a great living while being out-recruited by Carr-Rodriguez-Hoke at Michigan. Grissom was a 3 star recruit, Hutchinson was by contrast a 2 star, I love them both but at the end of the day if Bryant gets hurt, I am far more sanguine with the fact that Preston is going in to receive the snaps.

I don't put much faith in the official numbers There might have been 14,300 eyeballs watching the game. The student section looked especially sparse compared to Saint Francis. Week 1 of school might have boosted those numbers.

Also, the weather was perfect at game time, but the rainy morning might have kept some away. When tickets are so cheap there's not much pressure to get your money's worth on pre-bought tickets. I know I was on the fence about going until about noon.

Wasn’t sure where to put this, but Matthew Sexton was in Chicago for a tryout with the Bears yesterday. https://twitter.com/JasonLieser/status/1...al-hero%2F
