We've discussed the transfer situation before elsewhere. The below article, although it concerns a player from Ohio State, is I think a good example of where we are in college sports. When I was young and before the NCAA began imposing scholarship limits, I knew and knew of lots of darned good players who went to places like Ohio State and other schools now called P-5 and were on the roster for four years and got their BA or BS but never climbed very high on the depth chart. Some, to the best of my knowledge, may never have even gotten into a single game. Those days are ancient history. The reality now is that no matter where a player begins perhaps as many as half of them, will move up, or down.

This trend has made it very difficult to be a loyal fan of any Division 1 college program.
