Talent is there. Now lets see how quickly the talent can gel into a cohesive team.

I’d be more worried about cohesion if we hadn’t seen last years team. Kennedy has proven he knows what he’s doing, and he’s not going to let one guy ruin what he has going on.

Will all depend on whether we have a legitimate point guard this year.

2 of our transfers were the starting PGs on their former teams (USA & Tulane) and both averaged double fugures, I think. Don't know about assists-per-game or assist-to-turnover ratio.

I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. This is a talented group.

Johnson also played a lot at PG for auburn. Quan and Ertel aren’t natural pgs, but they were better than serviceable playing out of position there last year. I think we have tons of guard depth.

My point was that the pg position is the most important position on any college basketball team. Teams that make deep runs into the tournament are usually led by their point guard. Especially when you see smaller programs do it. Hopefully one of the new guys will be the answer. I know Kennedy wasn't happy with our situation last year.

Walker will be the best PG in the league.

It is for sure. I’m sure he used that in recruiting these guys too. It’s pretty easy to say, just look at this roster and what’s the missing piece? I have 25-30 minutes for you on a team that will be extremely competitive with you taking over.

I’ll be shocked if we don’t see extreme improvement at the position this season.

Gotta see them in person but after watching a lot of video, I feel better about our PG situation than I have in a long time. Since AJ.

We have talent, experience, and depth at the PG position, as well as guys that can take spot minutes there out of position if need be. You of course have to see it on the court, but I am not worried about our PG position.

The only position I'm a little worried about is our back up big, but we seem to have a solid 3 man rotation at PF/C at least.

I think you will see a lot of PF and C playing both rolls this year (so we are talking about 5 or 6 guys) depending on how we want to play on the court so im not to worried about the big men. If they get in to foul trouble then we go small and fast. This team will be EXTREMLY versatile.

I am always a little skeptical of jucos coming in and making an immediate impact because it often takes many of them half a season or more to adjust to D1 competition. But with that said, I feel like AD Diedhiou is going to make a bigger contribution than Simeon Kirkland did last year with some minutes behind Jemison.

With this roster and HCAK, we should have a good chance to get back to the tournament.

I think not making the tournament with this roster would be a pretty big disappointment.

In this league we'd still need to leave OOC play with only 1 loss to have any chance at an at large. Otherwise it'll come down to the conference tournament. We should have the most talented roster and be favored, but tournament play is always a crapshoot.

At least for the first time in a while, UAB is in that conversation. Assuming healthy, this is going to be a REALLY good team by March.
