New York Post Pens Delicious 'Toldjah So' After Politico 'Confirms' Some Hunter Biden Laptop Emails

Quote:Earlier this week, the saga involving the Hunter Biden laptop emails was revived by online news outlet “Politico” in such a way that further vindicated the New York Post’s original reporting from back in October.

The website’s “Playbook” page noted that Ben Schreckinger, who is one of their political correspondents, was able to get “independent” confirmation for his new book on the Bidens just published Tuesday that at least two of the emails discovered on his laptop were authentic:

Ben Schreckinger’s “The Bidens: Inside the First Family’s Fifty-Year Rise to Power,” out today, finds evidence that some of the purported HUNTER BIDEN laptop material is genuine, including two emails at the center of last October’s controversy.

A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden’s emails confirmed he did receive a 2015 email from a Ukrainian businessman thanking him for the chance to meet Joe Biden. The same goes for a 2017 email in which a proposed equity breakdown of a venture with Chinese energy executives includes the line, “10 held by H for the big guy?” (This person recalled seeing both emails, but was not in a position to compare the leaked emails word-for-word to the originals.)

MORE: Emails released by a Swedish government agency also match emails in the leaked cache, and two people who corresponded with Hunter Biden confirmed emails from the cache were genuine.

Politico still held on to the hope that some of the emails revealed last year were fake, adding this line in their piece: “…it remains possible that fake material has been slipped in.”

Right.

The NY Post’s editorial board wasted no time in responding to their story, penning a big, fat “we toldjah so,” and pointing out that in reality this was nothing new, that they had confirmed the emails prior to publishing their stories in October 2020:

While we appreciate the support, the truth is The Post’s reports always have been true, and it’s only because the media wants to protect Joe Biden that they keep referring to the laptop as “unsubstantiated.”

Schreckinger notes that “A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden’s emails” confirms two of the emails The Post published, including one about a potential deal with China with the line “10 held by H for the big guy?” — that is, Joe Biden.

But Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski already said those emails were authentic — the media just ignored him.

Schreckinger adds that emails released by the Swedish government also match emails from the laptop (Hunter had gotten into a kerfuffle when he was staying in a Swedish embassy building). That’s also been reported.

The Post also dinged so-called “fact-checkers” for their complicity in pretending the Hunter Biden emails either weren’t authentic or were much ado about nothing:

Schreckinger called the White House to check whether, as we reported, Joe Biden met Hunter for a dinner in April 2015 that included Burisma adviser Vadym Pozharskyi. Biden’s team pointed him to a Washington Post “fact check” — which noted that Biden’s team had at first said there was “no record of such a meeting,” until they finally conceded that, yes, Joe did drop in on that dinner. The fact confirmed, the writer still concludes, haughtily, that there’s “less to the story than one might imagine.”

It’s the perfect example of how Democrats weaponize “fact checkers” to deflect criticism and enlist social media to censor articles. Nothing to see here! (See: the Wuhan lab theory.)

Their op/ed page editor Sohrab Ahmari summed things up rather bluntly.

“En-f**king-raging,” he tweeted, pointing to a tweet with screengrabs of Politico’s original report downplaying the emails last year and then their report from this week. “In case you forgot, for reporting just this, The New York Post, founded by Hamilton, was suspended from Twitter; accused by of peddling Kremlin disinfo; had its circulation reduced by Facebook; and its readers prevented from sharing the story on Twitter.”

On the heels of Politico’s belated acknowledgment of the authenticity of some of the emails comes fresh news about another batch of Hunter Biden emails not connected to last year’s laptop story.
