RE: Week 4 Pick'em
Bold=Winner; Underline=Beating the Spread
BGSU vs Minnesota -31
*PJ Fleck eeked it out over Miami-OH. I don't believe BGSU is Quite as bad as last year. Despite the glory & humbleness of the PJ Almighty -- he doesn't quite cover the spread with his Gophers dominating the game, as BGSU has a little bite to them. BGSU 14, Minnesota 42.
FIU vs Central Michigan -11.5
*FIU hasn't had a tough schedule, which is why they're the underdogs. And they're on the road, too. CMU will have the edge the whole game, but just an edge. FIU 17, CMU 28.
Miami vs Army -7.5
*Could be wrong on this. I won't be surprised if it's a barn-burner. And wouldn't be shocked if Miami pulls it out. But Miami hasn't proved itself, even though they can play well. On the road. Miami 20, Army 31
Ohio vs Northwestern -14.5
*Can Ohio get back to what they were supposed to be for the year, this week? Well, Solich isn't getting enough pudding fed to him on the sidelines -- so I say no. NW has a good coach, and something to prove in this down year. Ohio 14, Northwestern 34
SJSU vs WMU -2.5
*WMU is riding high off the @Pitt win, and how good is formerly undefeated SJSU MW-Champ at home (but lost bowl to BSU last year)? Can WMU keep rowing that boat and Not ride so high off a great win like Pitt did against Tenn, and win? I don't think so. Lester's got COVID, some WMU people probably have it too. WMU falls behind early, scrapes back, but to no avail. SJSU 34, WMU 27
Toledo -5 vs Ball State
*Toledo showed guts & glory against ND, then sloppily sh!t their pants against 0-2 Colorado State in their own house. Yikes. Ball State is on life support right now, and even though Toledo's on the road -- they'll kick Ball State in the balls to win it out. Toledo 28, Ball State 21
Texas State vs EMU -6.5
*You would think EMU could win this handily -- and maybe so. However, it's going to be a dog-fight that EMU could VERY possibly lose. Texas St played Baylor Tough, losing by 9, and granted it was at home. They then beat FIU on the road in a dogfight, but lose to "Incarnate Word" by 8pts. Huh? I guess these highly religious schools have a lot invested (like Liberty) -- so I wouldn't count that as TX-St being that bad. Butt, the fighting EMoos pull out a FG in the end to win. Texas State 24, EMU 27
Maine vs NIU -No Line
*Maine can be good in D1AA, but they don't look like champion contenders, after getting bent over and hollowed out like a pumpkin with no lube, by JMU. NIU has something to prove and want to put themselves on the right track. Maine 14, NIU 38
Kent State vs Maryland -14
*I'd bet on this game that Maryland would beat the spread. KSU doesn't seem to have "risen up" to their potential for the year, while Maryland seems pretty good this year and not someone who's going to be fighting for 3rd-to-last-place in the B1G. Won't be a big blowout, but it'll be something like: Kent State 13, Maryland 38
Buffalo -13 vs Old Dominion
*It's hard to tell how good/bad Old Dominion is this year. They got whipped by Wake Forest (who solidly beat FSU, for what it's worth) and a pretty good Liberty team, but blew out New Hampshire who can be a decent FCS, maybe. Buffalo on the road, but pulls it out in a battle. Buffalo 31, ODM 24
Akron vs Ohio State -48.5
*Can Akron, with the strength of a thousand field mice -- challenge OSU for at least a quarter? No, probably not. They'll be zipped-up quite firmly by OSU, but this is not yesteryear's OSU team. Akron will go balls-out, trying to do whatever they can to disrupt the Buckeyes. Akron doesn't make it close, but you would have figured by looking at the score ticker at the bottom of ESPN, that OSU played a blah MAC team. Akron 13, An Ohio State 44
