RE: SEC Statement on punt return
I guess the bogus chop block they called on our first drive was ok? And the targeting call that was never shown on the replay board at the stadium was ok? Yeah that’s what I thought. F those entitled ********

RE: SEC Statement on punt return
Let me get this straight..

The claim is an SEC official made an error with an "inadvertent signal"

In other words the ball was still live when picked up and run back by Memphis .....

.... However it was error on the SECs part to not catch their first error.... so two errors.

So, after it's all over, the acknowledgement is that the ball was live when picked up and run back by Memphis.... but for the errors made by the SEC crew? Am I understanding this SEC statement right?

RE: SEC Statement on punt return
So should we expect to see a press release every time an SEC official blows a call?

We could make a how not to training video from the blown calls and no calls tonight.

RE: SEC Statement on punt return
"I mean, the ball's live," Bulldog coach Mike Leach said. "Just because you touch it, they usually whistle it. You know. We've got to pick it up and hand it to the ref."

Leach, after being told about the back judge apparently whistling the play dead, said the game film would be reviewed.

For Austin's part, he was well aware of the situation, saying he and his father talk about such situations and Memphis coaches have emphasized it also.

"As soon as I saw the dude try to catch it and he dropped it and I was looking and waiting to see if someone was going to hand it to the officials," Austin said, adding "They touched it and let it be. As soon as I saw that, I sprinted to the ball and then I could just get it and run with it."

RE: SEC Statement on punt return
What’s pathetic is they admit the call would have been inadvertent, as the ball clearly wasn’t downed. So they are saying the SEC officials made a bad call that would have greatly benefited the SEC team and it should have been allowed to help the SEC team, even though obviously incorrect.

The MisStake QB also threw at least 2 passes after running past the LOS I believe. In the 1st half.

We would have scored on that drive anyway so it changes nothing.

Funny, they didn’t issue a statement on the countless holds by the miss state offensive line the ENTIRE game that weren’t called. Nor did they issue a statement about a defensive holding call on us after a quick up the middle running play that lasted all of 2 seconds.

Or a MooMoo player turning around and punching a Tiger player right in front of a ref.

RE: SEC Statement on punt return
So we caught a break. It helped us but did not decide the outcome. We could have scored on that possession anyway (like we did last time we had the ball) and maybe left them with only 2-3 minutes to score twice. Or we punt and State fails to score (as they did on their prior possession). Or they do score, go up 24-21 but they have to stop us again. Lots of ifs.

They still had their chances and we stuffed them. We stopped two 2-pt conversion attempts in the last five minutes. If they make the first, they are down 3 and the FG (if even attempted) doesn't win it for us. Or they make the second conversion and we go to OT.
