WAC basketball Pre-Season POY
It seems being named the pre-season POY is a curse.

In that case I nominate Jabari Rice.

RE: WAC basketball Pre-Season POY
Since the 2021 WAC Player of the Year Fardaws Aimaq returned for another season at Utah Valley, he is likely to be selected as the WAC pre-season Player of the Year leading into this season.

A year ago, Jabari Rice was probably considered the best player on the Aggie team. However, this season, there could be one, maybe two players better than him on the Aggie roster. Presently, Teddy Allen might be considered by prognosticators to be more of an impact player for the Aggies than Jabari Rice.

Yep, automatic

Any all conference selections from WAC last year will automatically find space on preseason team.

Does having a POY, or another highly recognized player, guarantee a successful season? No, not always, but yes it helps.

You have no voice but we know no UTRGV player will ever win the WAC POY for basketball. Also, NMSU is the KING of college basketball along the Rio Bravo River aka Rio Grande River

El Rey del Rio Bravo? There's the small issue of another institution about 45 miles downstream from you. You know, the one with an actual national title in their record.

PS Down here we sometimes call it the Rio Grande. Sometimes we call it the Rio Bravo. Sometimes we call it the River. But never Rio Bravo River. Well, maybe it's because I only know English and some Spanish. I don't speak New Mexican.

I could see SFA senior forward GAVIN KENSMIL 6-7; 260 be in the running for WAC POY.

16 points; 7 rebounds a game
- 2020 SLC Student athlete of the year
- 1st Team All-Conference
- All-District

When UTEP is good the fans will come out and it can be a great atmosphere at the Don Haskins Center. Problem is that UTEP has been mediocre at best for a while now. But their fans are hoping Golding gets them back into the discussion. And FWIW I don’t know anyone that calls it Rio Bravo either.
