RE: The official WMU @ Pitt game thread
The guy opened up his Pitt podcast looking like he was on suicide watch - lol.

What they don't understand is this: You're not Clemson. You're not a dominant ACC team at all. You have potential to have good years and can be in the upper-half, sure. But that's about it.

So when you flip your P5 hair after beating a team from a superior conference in their 100k+ stadium -- you're going to be more apt to Lose to a G5 team who doesn't carry a "brand name" like UCF/Cinci/Boise BUT is possibly going to have a good year, carrying some very good weapons. Treating them like you're playing Akron only puts you in a position to be in a dogfight where you can potentially lose, at home. And they did.

What he needs to understand is that Pitt isn't LSU, Oklahoma, or Clemson -- so his expectations can't be on that level. They can't expect that they just need to bring their B game to beat Any G5 who's not UCF/Cinci/Boise. And if they do lose to any other G5 bringing their B game, as if all non year-by-year-dominant G5s are the same or something, then it means it's some huge travesty and being on suicide watch is in order.

NO, actually. The problem with a team like Pitt in that situation -- is having the Same Mentality some podcaster fan has, going into it. That every non year-by-year-dominant G5 are the same -- and bringing a 'mere' decent game should be enough as it "should" be a "given" win. THAT mentality will make it a coin-flip on who wins or loses, if said G5 team has weapons and could be a pretty good G5 team that year.

In all my 15 years of following wmu football, I’ve never seen a player do that.

True leader!!

My favorite Eleby moment (aside from the win, of course) was when we were going in just before our second score. One of the Pitt D-Line were working one of our O-line after the whistle and our guy shoved back. Eleby grabbed him and pointed away from the end zone, basically saying things like that make us go the wrong way when we are right on the goal line.

They sort of remind me of our fans after a L. But in their recent history they've lost to BGSU, Toledo, Akron, I believe Ohio, & Eastern took them to the brink in the Detroit Bowl a couple years ago. They're hardly the juggernaut they think they are, but were definitely predicted to be a division contender this year.

We get them next year in the Zoo. S/b another good game. They'll be breaking in a new QB........

Not sure how great they'll end up being TBH. Seems like their division is 'bad' enough they could hit 7 wins.

Not only will they be breaking in a new QB, they'll need to replace roughly 17 senior starters. Some may be back for a 5th or 6th year or whatever, but still...they have a lot of seniors. 21 in the current 2-deep.

You guys should look at how many people are listed under the football coaching staff portion of Pitt's roster. More people than I've ever seen listed, except maybe U-M. 4 assistant S&T coaches, a sports dietitian, several recruiting people and like 9 or 10 operations and admin staff, among others!

Congrats, Tim. Finally got that feather for your cap. Now go out and win a conference championship. Beat Toledo. Whip Central's ass. Remind Eastern that they are a mere gnat that we ignore too often at our peril. But not now. Show Balls Tate that last year was an aberration, an accident.

Great win today. Guys deserve a hats off!!

Great win on Saturday! Nice for the MAC to get a quality win. It's been a tough non-conference slate for the conference.

How Narduzzi is still the coach at Pitt, even before this game was played, blows my mind.[/align]

That was outstanding! I could only check in once in a while on the score. Do we know if there are any replays planned (ACC Network maybe?).

They might be breaking in a new coaching staff as well...fans in Pittsburgh are losing patience with Narduzzi.

Was watching that half-hour version. Damn, Tyler had a game!

Eleby threaded the needle a lot. Many of those probably should've been swatted or picked......Hopefully our receivers will be able to get more open vs the MAC.
