Pure hatred in my heart.

This is exactly what's going to happen, because AAC wouldn't be pursuing the MWC without ESPN telling them they'll finance the deal.

ESPN is certainly going to cut the checks, but they aren't going to pay 7 mil per team unless they have to. If Boise and the rest of the MWC go to the open market when their deal comes up again I think they can get good money. I don't think the remainder of the AAC has a prayer of keeping 7 mil per team without Boise and SDSU.

No way they are making $7M but even if they are pulling in $4M it's still better than ours, or other's, contract. I wonder if one factor is possible ESPN+ subscriptions. If you have a student body population of 30,000+ in a city of 1,000,000+ that is a lot of subscriptions if you can get people on board. Makes sense why markets and student size would have an advantage still.

Yeah....I'm sure Ga St is just rolling in the ESPN+ subscriptions. That's why they only had 12k people at their last game, everyone was at home watching on ESPN+ lol

AAC contract doesn’t hit $7 million until the back end. It’s reportedly $5 million per right now. The estimates from media consultants willing to talk to reporters is it will drop to around $3 million after the three leave.

But for perspective CBS pays a reported $5 million for the Army-Navy game and that requires at least CBSSN telecast when they meet in hoops.

I’m not a GaSt guy, but the reason I have ESPN+ is because of my South Alabama Jaguars. If they weren’t on ESPN+, I wouldn’t have ESPN+.

I have ESPN+ to follow my team as well. I'd say most of us do. I don't know that there is a significant correlation between empty stadiums and ESPN+ though, especially if the stadium was never full to begin with. I'd say ESPN has a pretty good idea which fanbases are subbing and what that is worth to then. It's all peanuts in the larger picture of college athletics of course. Still, some programs are going to outdraw others, it's up to ESPN whether they want to focus on who is drawing more now or who could potentially draw more in the future.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, Covid is having an impact on attendance at the G5 level

I agree 100%. Many in our already modest fanbases don't want to take a risk by going in person right now.

Especially A-State. The Memphis and UCA attendance were less than I would expect.

Ours was a combination of Covid and a fan base that is going to be have to be brought back after feeling they were alienated by Anderson and Mohajir at the end.

Covid didn't help though, we played both games at a time when there was no ICU space available in the entire county. Things have improved in the week since, but I saw far fewer families at the games, instead of groups of 5 or 6 I saw a lot of groups of 2 and people with just single tickets.

Without covid, we probably get 23-24K.

Found some details on CUSA's media deal.

Runs through 2023 and it's for $400,000 per team.

Hmmm, now that is interesting. Maybe CUSA brought in Jim Delaney as a consultant to help them to renegotiate their contract and base the contract on new numbers due to a few additions from the SBC. Maybe what’s going on is ESPN and CBS are seeing who will pay more for content, whichever is willing to cut the bigger check is the one who will pay for the additions to the respective conference they fund. It’s a thought…

The MAC has a $10 million per year contract. It's been noted that the SBC has an equal contract with ESPN even though the conference hasn't made it official.

3 times might not be right, at the moment, but several insiders have alluded that the $1 million per team could go up to $1.3 million with the right adds.

Too bad you won’t be getting any of that money since App State will be lured away to the big times of C-USA according to their board. Enjoy your 400K and CBSSN+ extra or whatever 03-lmfao

What I am told is ours is 1.2-1.3 per school. Maybe that is assuming 2 additions who add value

There hasn’t been anything published since the renewal AFAIK.
