A "draft" from C-USA and Sun Belt
If you were choosing these institutions strictly for their potential going forward to be valuable members of a D-I conference, how would you rank them 1 thru 26 based on whatever criteria you feel is most important?

Not looking for a way to separate these schools into three conferences, so location on the map relative to others isn't a consideration.

Finances, fan base, media market, facilities, history of success, academic reputation, other factors and variable ... however you value it.

Read a lot of well-researched posts and opinions on this board, so curious how these schools might shake out (and I know it's probably splitting hairs in at least some cases).

Appalachian State
Arkansas State
Charlotte
Coastal Carolina
FAU
FIU
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
Louisiana Tech
Marshall
Middle Tennessee
North Texas
Old Dominion
Rice
South Alabama
Southern Miss
Texas State
Troy
UAB
UL Lafayette
UL Monroe
UTEP
UTSA
Western Kentucky
+
Liberty
New Mexico State

There's 215 survey results from these boards that kind of answer that question.

I am not sure they answer the same question. The previous survey asks who you would want your team to play, which is not necessarily the same as who is the most valuable to a D-1 conference. Fans of programs in the same region will most likely prioritize playing each other over playing a good team from outside their desired footprint.

For example:

As WKU fan I like playing MTSU as they are our rival and I would place them ahead of FAU on the survey, but if asked whether MTSU or FAU brings more value to a D-1 conference I would lean towards FAU.

If I were to rank those teams from top to bottom, odds are I'd want to share in a conference with the top 12 (or however many). But ya I can see the difference.
