Cincinnati and Louisville were both in the Missouri Valley along with Memphis, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa and Iowa State

To clarify, many of those were not in at the same time.

That’s correct…membership was over about a 40 year period.

Once Cincinnati enters the Big12 it will represent the first time ever the the River trio Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis will not have at least 2 at any time weren't in the same conference in decades

While back in the day Rutgers was playing a very D1aa type schedule, we were never classified that way. Rutgers was in the University Division prior to the 1978 realignment and was reclassified as D1a after.

UConn was the first that I know of to go from D1aa/FCS to a P6/5 conference. Some others are saying USF did it as well.

When Louisville, Cincinnati and South Florida moved to The Big East, we listened to the noise. When Louisville got invited to The ACC, we listened to the noise. Now that Cincinnati, Houston and Central Florida are moving on to The Big 12, they get to listen to the noise.

It’s always the same noise.

Fans of the teams being left behind look for every reason to downplay, criticize and generally rain on the parade of the schools leaving.

In a world that changes daily, there’s something to be said about a place that never changes.

Boise State, UConn, Appalachian State, and La Tech are the are the only schools pushed down to I-AA that have come back. Louisville, Rutgers, and Cincy avoided that fate by remaining independent.

UCF is the only school I know of that has come from Division III.

Anyone familiar with Maryland? I think they played in various leagues before they settled in the ACC.
