Yes, like the way they attack and wrap up.

I take that as disrespect of our D. And here they are throwing it when every other coach would be running the clock and getting out of here with their W. And I don’t mean disrespect like running up the score and rubbing your face in it, I just mean they have a lack of respect for them and feel like they’ll do whatever they want with them.

Great effort by the entire team. Played hard and tough

Tough to get breaks vs Big 10 teams

Next week another opportunity

Scoreboard looks like a blowout, certainly wasn’t. Don’t believe in moral victories, you play to get that W which I hope to see next Saturday at Maryland. Lot of positives out there today, lots of things to clean up. Take these big paychecks and fund the program, I like our chances in our own conference.

Solid six out of eight quarters against top 6 teams. Had chances late in both games. This team is much improved from previous years. Only a handful of big mistakes. Gotta be proud of this team.

RE: Week 3: Iowa Hawkeyes
The bad new is they aren't good enough to take Top 10 teams late into the game. But, it wouldn't be realistic to think they would, at least IMO. And some teams in their own conferences won't either. Actually, they hung in longer in both games than all but a small handful of prior KSU teams would have. The GOOD news is after A&M and Iowa, they likely won't be facing defenses near that caliber the rest of the year. Having followed them since 1963, I got no complaints.

Fumble at goal line changed complexion of game. Would have made it 16-14 going to 4th qtr

I strongly feel had fumble been Iowa they would have said TD. No breaks when you visit the big 10. Today I thought overall refs were better than usual.

Team is very competitive Tackling very crisp.

Stay Healthy and move on.

ThanksJim. Right on the money.

But I don’t think it was that close to crossing the line and he certainly wasn’t down yet. He got twisted and made a bad decision trying to be a hero. It was very costly.

Second/third effort at the goalline is not trying to be a hero. He's trying to score!!!

RE: Week 3: Iowa Hawkeyes
Certainly Maryland will be considered a favorite, but looking at all the scores and stats, they are definitely no A&M or even Iowa. If I looked at the comparisons correctly, KSU is the only team currently in the MAC to have never beaten a team while they were actually in the Big Ten. That Purdue game a few years ago was a golden opportunity missed. Maryland is their latest best chance. It's certainly not unheard of (see below), and the only Big Ten team unbeaten against the MAC is Ohio State.

Big Ten vs. MAC overall record
ALL GAMES: (298-54-2) 84.5% : AVERAGE SCORE: 34.1 - - 15.1
BOWL GAMES: (4-1) 80.0% : AVERAGE SCORE: 31.4 - - 27.6

The extra effort is great, but when you’re blindly trying to reach an arm out thinking it’s crossing the goal line it is very ill advised.

RE: Week 3: Iowa Hawkeyes
I thought Crum made some really good throws and good decisions today. Certainly put more on tape for the NFL scouts today than he did at A&M. Going to Iowa and coming out with no INTs is commendable. His final stat line was solid, but, like the final score, is misleading. He was 16-23 but at least 3 of those incompletions were well placed drops. As a whole, the offense only scored 7 but had back to back drops near FG range on one drive, a questionable intentional grounding near FG range on another drive, and a fumble at the 1 on a third drive. That 7 points could've easily been 20+.

Abram looked really good today too. It seems like we're really missing McKoy on deep balls. Last week Cephas had some chances and didn't come down with them. Today it was Abram and he did. Hopefully today was the start of something good for him.

Lastly, this defense is light-years ahead of where they were the last couple years. We have some real playmakers on that side of the ball. It's actually fun to watch. Really excited for next week, hopefully we come out of it healthy and hopefully we won't have to brag that we're the best 1-3 team in the country.

I never said never against A&M or Iowa, but I have felt good about the Maryland game coming up for a few years now. Taking the Moneyline good.

For a reference point. They needed a a game winning field goal to beat Illinois today 20-17.

Also I have a question for the board, speaking offensively only. Is Iowa's skill positions that much better than Kent or is the Oline. I lean more towards the Oline in this case personally, but wanted to hear others perspectives.

Their RB Goodson looked good. He had speed and was able to make the right cut at the right time. No one else really stood out to me.

RE: Week 3: Iowa Hawkeyes
My observations:

* We are good.
* Iowa is not the 5th best team in the country.
* Our kickers are going to be problematic all season.
* We will be lucky if Lewis is back next season.
* We will beat Maryland.

Offensive line struggled some. Seven sacks. Only 80 yards rushing.

But there certainly were good moments.

Agree that in all likelihood Lewis will not be back, especially if KSU has the season we all expect and hope. The key for sustained success at the "mid-major" level is continuity. Rarely, that means keeping the same coach for a long time. Most often it means making a solid choice in replacing a departing coach, as Kent State basketball has done. Man, I hope when Lewis moves on they don't blow it.

When I mentioned Purdue above I really meant to say Illinois.
I know that money drives everything in big-time college football, but even give that I still don't get Maryland, or Rutgers for that matter, being in the Big Ten.

RE: Week 3: Iowa Hawkeyes
I'm curious if we'll see Bangda start to cut into Bradford's carries. Not specifically because of the fumble yesterday but more because, just going off numbers, Bangda seems to be a bit under utilized. His freshman year he got 45 carries with a YPC of 6.5, last year only 6 carries for 6.2. So far this year 14 for 6.9. Bradford's was at 6.9 last year but has dipped to 4.2 so far this year. Of our extremely talented stable of RBs Bangda (231) and Bradford (243) are the big backs.
