TV money at the G5 is more balanced against travel costs.

In a total airport alignment travel cost are $5 million.

In a tight bus footprint it is closer to 1 million.

Yes and no. Would Louisiana move to the AAC if the adds are Louisiana andUAB/UTSA/Marshall/App St 100% every time.

If the moves are Louisiana and ODU/Charlotte/GaSt/UNT/Rice then it’s something you have to think about. Would the SBC be a better fit long term if UAB/Marshall/UTSA/USM join. ULM eventually drop to FCS and LaTech added as a replacement.

There are scenarios that can play out that aren’t as clear cut as a yes or no.

I think it’s more than just the TV money. It may well have happened anyway(since it did occur quickly, among other things), but I definitely think that NIL was a factor in the OU/UT move.

Beyond boosters openly supporting their schools, there’s also the pure financial angle. Companies will want a return on their marketing investment, and the visibility of SEC and B1G programs with their high viewership makes them attractive to business people who have no dog in the hunt. Signing an AL recruit for his high visibility would make sense to an Ivy League business owner even though they’d never set foot on that campus.

OU and UT saw the writing on the wall vis-a-vis recruiting and competitive advantage. Pair that with an expanded playoff where you don’t have to actually win your league, and it was a no-brainer even before taking direct TV revenue into account.

On the flip side, I think that if any AAC adds come from CUSA and SBC, I think there could be some shuffling between them just to keep the good brands together, regardless of whether a meaningful money increase is involved. When you're talking about the difference between 500k and 1m media payouts on a ~30m budget, I think you're more worried about good matchups that get butts in your seats.
