Exclamation AQ Week Three
This week in the AQ7 features some intriguing matchups per the usual.

Northern Colorado beat Houston Baptist this past weekend in Houston, so Lamar has a good measuring stick. Central Arkansas following the loss to Missouri State is in a precarious position and needs to take care of business. Another big test for Dixie State, which has one of the toughest schedules in the nation. And then a future WAC rivalry game with Tarleton State vs Southern Utah on a neutral field...

Saturday, September 18
Lamar @ Northern Colorado
UAPB @ Central Arkansas
Indiana State @ Eastern Kentucky
North Alabama @ Jacksonville State
Southern Utah vs. Tarleton State (Globe Life, Arlington)
Mississippi Valley St @ Stephen F Austin
UT-Permian Basin @ Abilene Christian
Dixie State @ UC-Davis

RE: AQ Week Three
Taking care of business is huge for us this weekend. ACU has to prove that we are moving past our slumps and can begin playing competitive football again. A beat down of an NAIA team doesn't prove anything. UTPB is only D2, but they are a solid D2 team on a big win streak. Plus we need to avenge our embarrassing loss to D2 ASU last year. This game doesn't have rank or play-off ramifications, but the ramifications for us are still there. Can we turn a corner and get back to winning football?

Expect some new things in the ACU/UTPB game. This is a really big game for ACU for several reasons, and it could be a significant signal of rounding the corner to the football heritage of the past. Hopes are high.

I see all those Cowboys at the Tarleton game but I wonder if they know that the first Cowboys were Mestizo Mexicans and the first Mestizo Mexican Vaqueros in present-day U.S was in New Mexico when them half Aztec, half Spanish Conquistador ranch workers came with the Juan de Onate expedition in 1598.

ACU wins easily over UTPB, 34-9... should have been more, but we must lead the FCS in defensive penalties.

RE: AQ Week Three
Not overly relevant to the bigger season, but ACU was able to pull out its 2nd win in a row. Yes, it was a lower level team again. UTPB is D2, but a team on a 8 game win streak, carrying over from last Spring. Their lines actually out weighed us, and they had been putting up good numbers. We knew they would be a challenge, unlike Louisiana College. We beat UTPB 34-9. At the end of the 1st, it was only 3-3. We had a break out 2nd qtr, then had to grind it out through the 2nd half. The good is that we got several key turnovers that helped keep them in check. The bad is that we actually got worse in stupid penalties and keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Hopefully we can build more momentum, as well as clean up our play. The Lamar win is interesting and it will be a battle next week in Beaumont between two teams in the bottom half of the AQ7. We showed we can take care of business. Like I said, that was key as we begin conference play. Lamar's option football will be challenging, but we played against it vs Army last year. We also match up fairly well against the Cardinals. At least it should be a good, next step, game.

RE: AQ Week Three
AQ 7 play gets underway this weekend although I believe the first ACU-Lamar game doesn’t count toward conference standings. The official conference game between the Cards and Wildcats will take place later in the season when the two teams meet again in Abilene town.

Sept. 25
Sam Houston at Central Arkansas, 4 p.m. CT
Abilene Christian at Lamar, 6 p.m. CT
