By that reasoning, we should have had storms like this for the past 5 decades at least.

Well, there were Carla (1961), Alicia (1983), Allison (2001), Ike (2008), Harvey (2017), and probably a few others of lesser note. Lived in Harris County for all of them. Didn’t realize it was Rice Football’s fault.

Hmm. Good list.

But we went to TWO bowl games in 1961 (including our most recent NYD bowl) and won the Texas Bowl and won 10 games in 2008. It took Katrina and remodeling the Superdome in its aftermath for us to break our bowl drought in 2006, and of course who could forget the 19-17 win against UT played in the aftermath of a pretty stout Hurricane/Tropical Storm.

And not to mention, I believe we tore down the south goal posts in 1983 after that year’s sig-win(!)

We played well against Arkansas last week in the wake of Ida.

So I’ve got the causality backwards.
Nicholas was just a day late to help us last night.

Maybe it can help power us to another win over the Longhorns, though…
