16-18

Not on the scoring table side of the court. I sought we were pretty vocal throughout.

We don't have any power servers, but Grippo, LaBue, McCardell, Shore and Graham all keep the ball relatively low to the net, and they've cut down dramatically on the momentum-killing service errors.

I only recall two Rice service errors all day, but my memory is suspect. Nicole's serves in the 3rd set run were low, especially compared to the high balls in the first two sets.

It's interesting to watch the service strategy on both sides. SHS always targets Nicole when she's on the back line. Looks like Rice was targeting #9, though the libero was able to take a lot of them.

4 service errors: Lennon (long to end the 9-0 run), Shore (long), LaBue (into net) and Grippo (wide right).

Who is "Nicholas" ... and what role does he play in the possibility of our playing (or not playing) Baylor on Thursday?

lol You have to be down here. It's the latest tropical storm that's about to hit the Houston area, starting tonight and continuing through Wednesday. 15+ inches of rain expected to fall with winds gusting to 65 MPH. Hopefully, I can get out tomorrow morning before it gets too bad.

Yikes! Thanks for the explanation, Walt.

Wish we could get 1/10 of that precipitation (but no more) here in the Golden State of Drought & Wildfires.

The Texas coastline and the Houston area wish they could get 1/10 of the expected rainfall as well.

Carly won CUSA Setter of the Week. Can't believe Nicole didn't win Player of the Week given her two dominant performances against LSU and SHS.

We got more votes in the Coaches poll this week, up to 21 which essentially makes us #29.

I thought we only had 13 votes last week?

Watching the #8 Kentucky at #5 Louisville match tonight on ESPNU. The 3 biggest differences between the truly elite teams and us, IMO, are: (1) back line defense, (2) frontline blocking and (3) the consistent height provided on sets. Some really long and impressive rallies.

On the positive side, we'll have twice as many people at next week's match against UT as they had tonight (just over 2,000). From what I've heard, our match has been sold out for over a month now, and we're expecting 4,000+ next Wednesday. Of course, that's going to require them unblocking (with yellow tape) half the seats at Tudor as was the case for all the matches last week.

So how does that work with season tickets? All mine are general admission with no particular game specified. First come, first serve for entry? I don’t see what prevents me from using all of the tickets for the UT match.

All season tickets are non-game specific and general admission. I think the message is to get to Tudor shortly after the gates open at 5:00pm. Fortunately, for volleyball, the upper loge seats provide the best view....so even if you/we're bumped to the benches upstairs, you still get a good view of the match. Frankly, I don't understand the folks who come early and choose to sit in the first 3 - 4 rows. You just don't get a full view of the action from that low....and the players can hear you just as well if you're sitting in one of the upper backed seats.

Agree. I've never understood the value of courtside seats at NBA games either. Jack Nicholson and Spike Lee do it to be seen. Others to show off their $$.

Also agree. I sat on the floor once at Autry (i think it was one of those 5k kids games)-just awful. My third row seats are perfect.
