Exclamation When Does Men's Basketball Season Start For Your School?
Officially, the first games of the season start in early/mid November (last season because of COVID-19 they started late).

Unofficially at most schools it depends on how good your team is and/or how bad your football team is. If your school is in the College Football Playoff, you likely don't even notice your men's basketball team until after the Playoffs are over. If your football team sucks, you probably are already looking forward to the season, especially if your team is projected to be good or have a good tradition.

This thread will officially "kick off" men's basketball season at certain schools (or essentially declare their football seasons over). Feel free to play along (or dispute).

Team (Date, game that ended their football season)

Duke (Sept. 4, Charlotte) - Or did their season ever begin in the first place?

UConn (Sept. 4, Fresno State) - Ditto

Illinois (Sept. 4, Texas San Antonio)

Louisville (Sept. 6, "Ole Miss")

Kansas (Sept. 10, Coastal Carolina) - Yeah men's basketball season is year round in Lawrence but they won Week 1 ... and stormed the field!

Syracuse (Sept. 11, Rutgers) - AT HOME!

Florida State (Sept. 11, Jacksonville State??????) - Yeah FSU, you're a men's basketball school now. Three consecutive Sweet 16's and you've beaten the Florida Gators SEVEN straight times. Time to give up on football.

Ohio State (Sept. 11, Oregon - When you lose at home to a Pac 12 team, your season's over (well at least your Playoff hopes are over and at OSU that essentially means your season's over).

NC State (Sept. 11, "Ole Miss State" - Hey, if Mississippi is "Ole Miss", why isn't Mississippi State "Ole Miss State"?)

Teams whose football seasons are over but their men's basketball teams aren't good either so who knows what they have to look forward to?

Washington (Sept. 4, Montana)

Temple (Sept. 4, Rutgers ... 61-14!) - How did Temple actually WIN a football game?

Men's Basketball Season surprisingly has NOT begun for:

Kentucky: Still 2-0 and have an SEC win (and it isn't Vanderbilt!)
