The reason I want(ed) Johnson to work out is that he's arguably the perfect encapsulation of what we all want Rice athletics to be. Didn't get much recruiting attention out of high school despite putting up great numbers (the important targets for schools like Rice) and extremely smart (CUSA Academic Medal for 3 straight years). Imagine a winning football program led by an overlooked QB who probably could've gotten into Rice without football (he had something close to perfect standardized test scores). Couldn't dream up a better advertisement for Rice athletics. But alas, doesn't seem to be in the cards.
