The Old Big East was another animal than the 'Bulk & Skull' looking new big east. The new big east has not been able to feed its bigger brands like a big boy, so it's kind of a quirky looking line-up of mid-majors from different regions. If Villanova wouldn't have been there the American was stronger.

Weak troll job, do you even lift bro?

Nothing I said was wrong.

I rightly pointed out that the main difference between the NBE and AAC was that the NBE's bellcow performed.
The AAC believed UConn would be that consistent "bellcow" and just about every team in the conference tied UConn to the whipping post. The AAC had to create new bellcows.
My other point was a team like Georgetown is a shadow of what it was in the OBE. The ceiling on Georgetown was lowered considerably.

We'll see

UConn's campus stadium was razed years ago. You don't play FCS in a 40,000 seat stadium unless you're the SWAC or the Ivy.

Building a 15k-20k stadium is not as difficult as trying to find the space and resources for building a 40k stadium.

3 bids a year vs 5 bids a year. I wonder which is better?

And in both games, the final score was deceptively close.

And it's not looking good for games on their schedule that should be winnable. Hell, we scored 28 points today against BC while NOT playing backups (we were only down 10 in the 4th at one point).

Looks like the best they can hope for this year is winning against Yale, who I believe is still favored in their game.

UConn has a long term lease with Rentschler Field per a state agreement: $172,000 in rent per game. No problem if you can put 30,000 in the place, but untenable if you're drawing 4,000 to play URI.

They had 14k today against Purdue, so they're in trouble one way or another

If UMass beats UConn — which I think is likely, but in a 70% way, not a 97% way — then UConn will be 0-7 going into the Yale game. UConn players and coaches will have full awareness that it’s their last chance for a W, and a loss means 0-12, virtually guaranteed. That can be extremely motivating, unless the team has just fallen apart and no longer cares what happens.

Now, I think Eli will be up for the game. But I think UConn will be, too, and I think I’d put their chances — for now — at slightly better than 50/50.

Yeah I don't want to put it as "UMass will definitely win!" just yet. But as of right now it's trending toward that. Our true freshman QB was actually able to lead a fairly decent offense against a real actual team.

With their coach already resigning, and not yet scoring against FBS competition...man, that's dire.

Eh... You can't expect Uconn fans to get excited about playing some stupid, little school from Indiana. I mean, hey...it's not even a school named after a State for Pete's sake. How's anyone supposed to get excited about playing Purdue???

Oh yah I forgot that UConn's natural rivals are directional state schools. Maybe they'd be a good fit in the MAC after all lmao

UConn sacrificed their football for hoops, and their hoops still not as good in the Big East either. They should have waited until this year to stay in the AAC.

UConn was not getting in the Big 12. They had a better shot when they were still in the original Big East.

The MAC will take UCONN & UMASS both but full members only.

But wonder if they could schedule Home & Homes for basketball.......?

The MAC gets: home games vs decent opponents in basketball + expansion to the east coast + name institutions
UCONN & UMASS get: a home for football

RE: It's getting desperate at UConn
I know being a HC is the goal for most coaches (Except Bud Foster). But in all seriousness if you are a good hot shot coach or IAA coach do you really put your name in a hat to try and become HC at UConn.

Before they hire a new coach UConn really needs to do soul searching and define what they want to do in the next 5 years. Looking at their schedule through 2028 and I see maybe 2 wins: 2022 Central Conn State and 2026 Lafayette. But as we seen with Holy Cross even those aren't gimmies.

My guess is by 2025 UConn will have moved back to IAA or they have dropped football altogether, I seriously think those are their only 2 options.

Why not just hire the Holy Cross coach? Or somebody that’s done a rebuild in the northeast before, like Al Golden.

We’re entering a new paradigm where Independence can work. There are more Independent teams now than the last 20 years. We might even see more so long as they secure a basketball league.
