That was one of the most embarrassing parts of the game for me, if I'm being honest.

He had actually taken it off and seemed to be talked into putting it back on for the picture/video. He seemed uncomfortable doing it....

Not sure why we have to be a lemming and have some stupid turnover chain. Not averse to some way of hyping a big play, it's the age we live in. Just be original.

Joseph Goodman

UAB coach Bill Clark noted that Georgia's defensive line moving/shifting just before the snap caused problems for UAB's offensive line. Said the shifting would be called for penalties in CUSA.

Steve Irvine

Need to give full context of what he said. He said that the problem was them making a "loud move call" when they shifted. It wasn't the shifting that he felt should be penalized. He felt that simulated a snap count and should have been called.

Blazernation

He misquoted Clark, Clark never said the shifting would be a penalty, but they were simulating the snap count as they shifted right before the snap.

Georgia's Stetson broke the FBS single game passing efficiency record with a rating of 422.4 against UAB. The previous record was set in 1980.

Embarrassing

Against a defense that dominated JSU, which in turn came back to upset FSU. Go figure!

Something something meltdown, something something ledge something something sky is falling, same **** different season from the same people. Nothing substantive to contribute I guess.

Nah, not a meltdown at all. Haven't seen any ranting or saying we suck etc etc. Just observations of what is obvious: we are not mentally prepared to play these games. It is a serious issue within our program. Denying or excusing it is just playing pretend and I'm too old for that. Clark should have to answer tough questions about yesterday but he won't get them.

It’s obvious our staff doesn’t care about these games. Some of our fans care more about these games than anything else for whatever reason. What tough questions do you want asked? Why does your team consistently suck against P5 opponents? If you could go back and change your gameplan what would you do differently?

There’s only so much that can be asked in my opinion, and you may not like the answer if it’s honest.

I'd like to have an honest answer at this point. It's been going on too long. Even if is the answer is, "we don't care about these games," I'd like to hear it.. I want to know why we're consistently scared and unprepared for these games.

That was basically the answer/excuse after the Tennessee game two years ago. "This game wasn't important. We wanted to make sure we were prepared for the conference schedule coming up."

If that truly IS the case... And I wouldn't even be that mad if it actually is the case.. Why don't they just come out and said, "we just need the money, and we DGAF about the game." In that case, why do they even bother playing the starters or even giving the mirage that we're trying to compete. Just show up, play all back ups, lose 100-0, and take the money. Why do we half-ass it? TJ3 got injured in the UT game 2 years ago, which negatively effected us after that point..

If the money truly is the reason for playing these games, I cannot wait until the day when we can play beatable P5 teams. Beating those type of teams would go a lot farther, public perception wise, than getting absolutely molly whopped and embarrassed on national TV once a year. That gives the impression that we are small time and not ready for the spotlight (which we may not be, but don't make it so glaringly obvious for all the world to see).

UAB looks like a laughingstock after these games. I hope the money is worth that tradeoff.

BULL $***. They never said that. There was an off week the week before and all Clark said was they spent the off week focusing on CUSA. They still spent game week like every other game week.

RE: ***Georgia Game thread***
I got a real good answer for why "consistently scared" ...

These games get hyped beyond what they are -- an athletic competition between two teams. They get turned into referendums on the program. For players, they get turned into their shots at the pros. Media write stupid crap like "this is the ticket to the AAC" and then when you lose, they make it a referendum not only on your program but on G5 football. Of course they won't do the same when a P5 team gets trashed, no matter how many times it happens. That'll just be a bad day at the office.

The proverbial Rat Poison is strong around these games -- including in each of the games, prevailing opinions back home that not only should UAB be competitive but that UAB should have a chance to win. Pretty remarkable to think a start-up has that expectation, because really, if it were anybody else we'd think it ludicrous to even discuss. I think it's great. But it's a different dynamic no matter how much Bill and staff want to keep things even keel.

Now you might say, isn't that pressure felt by other G5s? Sure, but not in quite the same way. They didn't have to fight for their literal survival, and they weren't recruited to bring back a team from the dead. Blazer players KNOW how much this means to us, and what it means to them. They know what showing out in an SEC stadium would mean for them personally, too. And they don't get many chances for this type of exposure. I wonder if maybe they feel that pressure and expectations in a way that doesn't exist in other games, that is magnified specifically because of dynamics at UAB. I think UAB comes out pressing and makes mistakes we don't usually see, and better competition definitely impacts that.

All I know is this:

Florida, 2017. Spencer Brown fumbled right out of the gate and UAB was down quick to a ticked-off set of Gators.
Texas A&M 2018: We fumbled the opening kickoff for a TD and had some other disasters in the kicking game.
Tennessee, 2019: We had more turnovers than yards in the 1st quarter. The horrible start, even though the D actually played pretty good, took us out of everything we do.
Georgia 2021: Down 14-0 before people were settled into their seats.

Miami really was the only exception. UAB was very competitive in that game and went into the fourth quarter with a chance to win. UAB probably does win if Miami has its prior QBs instead of D'Eriq King.

As for us? We all can point to disappointments but also need to look in the mirror and be real. One reason we're upset is we have to hear it from Bama fans and Auburn fans around us who otherwise are too busy ignoring us. Ain't a one of us wasn't asked, "Yo, what happened to UAB?" last weekend.
