Wow. Did NOT expect to see this many fans in the stands for a Villanova playoff game.

RE: 2021 CAA Football and other FCS games of interest
Nice comment from a VU fan on AGS board:
“A surprisingly good crowd at the stadium last night. It was a cold uncomfortable night but the students and Nova faithful braved the weather to root their Cats to a playoff victory. Didn't see what was reported, but it looked to be about 8k to my eyes.
Holy Cross fans were there in good numbers as well and represented their team enthusiastically. Reminded me a little of the W&M fans. Classy group for the most part.”

Southern hanging with #10 Kentucky, down by only with 3 minutes to go in the 1st Half.
JMU still up by 10 on UVA, in the 1st.

A mid-week football game, in the middle of the FCS playoffs, no less?

RE: 2021 CAA Football and other FCS games of interest
JMU is stomping Montana 21-3 entering the fourth quarter. Montana lost their best receiver in the first quarter and their starting quarterback in the second quarter. Plus, the officiating has been grossly one-sided in favor of JMU including a phantom pass interference penalty that negated a Dukes fumble on a bomb and a targeting call so obvious that even the JMU player was preparing to head to the locker room but then the "review" ruled it not targeting. (It was so obviously targeting that the play could be used as the textbook film for training officials. Even the announcers were shocked by the ruling. With officiating like that, I guess ESPN/NCAA really wants a NDSU/JMU matchup next week.)

NDSU is giving 25.5 points to ETSU. The same ETSU that beat Vanderbilt 23-3 to open their season. I know ETSU mostly beat up on a weaker conference (wink), but still.

I stumbled upon the JMU game last night on a big screen at a bar, so I couldn’t hear the commentary but could read the closed captioning. Started watching shortly before the targeting “non-call” so I missed the earlier calls.
As soon as they called it on the field I thought it wasn’t targeting (heck, in hindsight it wasn’t unnecessary roughness but I don’t think they can reverse that call.) The QB wasn’t yet down and wasn’t sliding, the QB lowered his head, and the JMU defender turned his head to lead with his shoulder. I am no JMU fan but was glad they didn’t confirm targeting. The call against the Montana player later in the game was warranted (very late hit, defender launched himself AND led with the crown).
And I thought whoever was doing the closed captioning was anti-JMU/pro-Griz.

Hmmm, your vision must have been affected by what you were imbibing at the bar. The JMU defender clearly lowered his head and led with the crown of his helmet into the head of the runner. Yes, the later Montana play was also clearly targeting and was called correctly.

Poor Joey D has some nerve tweeting from the JMU v NDSU game. Dukies are lighting him up, mostly with pictures…go figure.
