While I'm not surprised at the outcome something just seems.....off with this team. Going back the past five seasons, even in the two seasons we didn't make a bowl game, I always had a good feeling about our teams. Sure we had our flaws, but the offense was always able to move the ball and put up some points, the D was pesky, bend but don't break, would make some plays. Through two games this teams just doesn't feel right. That probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, and I can't really describe what it is, but I'm now not as optimistic as I was before the season.

Hopefully its just a case of being so much more talented than our first opponent and so much less talented than our second. The next two weeks with @UMass and Texas State should be telling. I saw UMass has struggled with some P5 teams the first two weeks, and Texas State just beat FIU in OT. Hopefully playing teams more our caliber from here on out we'll get back to the team we've seen the last few years.

Two points injuries are really hurting us. And the two QB makes sure our offense is out of rhythm. Paul Smith Jr and Ryland and Mark Lee Jr all played yesterday after being banged up at St Francis. Some of the younger guys on defense looked decent against Wisconsin.

Mark Lee looked like he had another injury against WI. Hopefully he's okay.

BTW, while we all cry in our beer, coffee, Gatorade, etc. I'm crying because we didn't schedule FSU (Florida State U).

I actually thought our defense was pretty decent the, second half. Besides Carter Jr I thought Robert Daniels,Jr. played a solid game.

According to the starting defensive lineup we were using a 4-3-4 formation yesterday vs a 4-2-5.

Agreed. Hard to get a foothold on D when the offense is giving you 0 time for rest and consistently losing the field position battle. They did get pressure on several passing plays and got home for a sack against the starting OL. Not to mention the 98 yard pick six. When you're down 4 starters on defense before the game even starts I consider it a decent performance.

Obviously it could have gone better but Wisconsin might win the big ten.

I thought the defense actually played pretty ok. couple of red zone stands. getting blasted by wisconsin isnt going to ruin my day. lets beat umass and get it out of the system.

Good point. OSU is no longer undefeated, as our us....

The tackling was much better than last year as well. I'm not crowing proudly about the performance, but I hardly am embarrassed either.

Wisconsin is probably the worst match-up in the B1G for a MAC team. They and Iowa play smash mouth football with massive interior lines and while neither throws the ball like a National Championship team, against G5 teams they don't need to. BYU did squeak by them in 2018 but for their other only loss to a G5 team you have to travel back to 2003! Their bigs are just too good. Ask South Florida 49-0 , CMU 61-0 and Kent St 48-0 how their games with the Badgers worked out two seasons ago.

Add to that, Wisconsin entered the game an angry 0-1 playing at night before a loud, rowdy and well lubricated home crowd. 34-7? Personally I was expecting much worse. The sky is not falling, this B1G team was not Rutgers, Purdue or Illinois.

agree with all you say. Will add each game plays out the way it does. If we played WI again, the next game would be different. How so? Who knows.

Our biggest problem was getting behind the 8-ball early and never getting going. Once that happened our goose was cooked early.

Agree. One point I'd like to pick up on: I don't think St. Francis was a proper tune up for WI. WI played PSU and looks to be in mid-season form. We're not their yet.

So scheduling, IF possible, is that Game #1 should be winnable, BUT be a suitable tune up for the 2nd game.

https://fbschedules.com/ncaa-2022/team/eastern-michigan

2022 schedule is appropriate, I think. E. KY is a better team than St. Francis.

I don't think teams like St. Francis, Wagner, etc. are strong enough competition as a first game tune up before a B1G game. (UB played Wagner the 1st week).

https://sagarin.usatoday.com/2021-2/coll...ings-2021/

Good points. Not that the outcome would have chanced but a better schedule for this year might have been:

St. Francis
Texas State
Wisconsin
UMass

Unrelated, but I'm not sure if anyone mentioned that on the radio they said Donnellon is most likely out for the year. Still no word on Knue. Also Lafleur, Watson, Vaden, and Bogan were all out last night. No word on how long they will be out, but it'll be important to get those guys back in the secondary when we start playing more competitive games.

In addition Jackson our DB transfer from Bucknell and Aaron Jackson our wildcat QB (see spring game) appear to be out for a long time. Both were on crutches for the St Francis game.

More on the Turan Rush incidents.

I'd really like to know what the coach's thoughts are on this.

If he actually stomped on a player once he,was down a,multi game suspension. Maybe 3 to 4 and,an apology. That he got his hands inside the QB facemask I can see that happening but it may be inadvert and the refs should have called face masking. Nowling should be suspended a game.

I say ONE game. I think Suh was suspended for one game by the NFL. I/12 of a season > 1/16 of a NFL season.

As unsavory as this stuff is, Turan isn't a repeat offender (Suh had a history of s*it things).

The WI player didn't suffer any injury, etc. To get 3 or 4 games would need to say take an opponent's helmet off, break his nose, etc. (have to cause physical injury )

I think its very odd and something is not right. If CC is serious about recruiting character guys, etc. and this goes completely by the wayside than what is CC doing and what is he really about? I'm not writing Rush off, but that move was BS.

Rush stomped a player and looks like he stuck his hand inside an opponents helmet.

I saw today that Rush is still listed as the starter on the depth chart. Is this for real?

I love EMU and like CC but if he doesn't get a suspension, then this is crazy and he is a hypocrite. I would then say start recruiting any one because it ultimately doesnt matter. There is NO way the coaches missed this on film.

Let's see come game time if CC does anything.

I tend to agree with your comment. I mean this stuff with McGill and Glass III happened in a bowl game. Both were model citizens up until then. CC was very upset but it was their last game so outside of saying this is not who we are not much he could do. He needs to address both Nowling and Rush's behavior. By the way Rush's twitter account is no longer public but private. How about Rush coming out publicly and taking ownership of what he did?

Yeah but we all know the depth chart in game notes need to be taken with a grain of salt.

It's likely being handled internally. Creighton has suspended star players before (Roback, Crosby) so I don't see what would be different now. Nobody asked about it during the press conference, so we wouldn't know. Its not like teams put out press releases about player suspensions...
