Now THAT'S a play from the defense! On the board!

I like Carter. First we're seeing of him.

34 to 7 isn’t bad. Offense needs a lot of work. Defense is good though giving up only 34 and scoring our only touchdown.

It's hard to tell what he was trying to do there. I doubt he was trying to step on a guy. Need to see the full replay from a wider angle.

Hard to tell?! LOL He was outside the pile and took his leg to step on someone inside of it. This one does not have a gray area as much as I like EMU. Thats a dirty and immature play.

Second half of the St. Francis game was a red flag. We have now gone 6 quarters of play with only 7 offensive points.

I only followed the box score, but it looks like Wiscy picked the score. I hoped for more, but a terrible matchup. A solid MAC ground game does not make for upsets against the big boy trenches of B1G.

On the bright side, Wisconsin is by far the best team we'll see this season. A little forced humility after pushing around SFU might do some good too. "You aren't that good" is a tough lesson for a coach to teach until you get your ass kicked.

RE: GameDay: FB @ WI
My thoughts on the loss to UW. (I knew going in this is a 'pay game' and the results would likely be a loss)
1. David Carter stepped up and made a play. I was so high on him as a recruit and he flashed what he will be in another year as he grows. Good for him. 92 yard return for a TD.

2. Offensive play calling was offensive. Love CC but that was really bad. Zero creativity and a show of stubborn play-calling schemes of up-the-middle runs. Even the announcers were stunned by the attempt to "attack the middle" The QB Battle looks to favor Ben but I'm not sold on this. I think they have the next two games (Umass and Texas State) to figure out who the guy is. Neither is showing anything special. At this point, I'd look at Baron May to be honest.

3. Run Defense was really bad the first half and got better in the second. I actually thought our LB's played ok given being outsized.

4. Lack of Discipline. Between Nowling's taunting in the 1st half changing a 2nd and 10 inside the opponent 15 and Turan Rush's difty play of stepping on a defender on the ground, CC has some discipline to hand out. I would be surprised if Turan plays the 1st half of the UMASS game for that garbage. Not a good look.

On to UMass. Hoping we get back on track after a bad 2nd half to St. Francis and this loss to UW. I like CC but I think being an 8th yr coach would yield a bounce back game against UMass.

I agree regarding Baron May! Saw him in high school! Special! We got destroyed tonight, and Wisconsin showed class starting in the 1st quarter! We got out gained

by nearly 500 yards, 350 yds on the ground! Offense hasn't looked good in 6 quarters! Westmoreland needs more PT!

That went about how I thought it would. No way were we going to match up with the size, talent, and physicality of a team like Wisconsin.

While I'm not surprised at the outcome something just seems.....off with this team. Going back the past five seasons, even in the two seasons we didn't make a bowl game, I always had a good feeling about our teams. Sure we had our flaws, but the offense was always able to move the ball and put up some points, the D was pesky, bend but don't break, would make some plays. Through two games this teams just doesn't feel right. That probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, and I can't really describe what it is, but I'm now not as optimistic as I was before the season.

Hopefully its just a case of being so much more talented than our first opponent and so much less talented than our second. The next two weeks with @UMass and Texas State should be telling. I saw UMass has struggled with some P5 teams the first two weeks, and Texas State just beat FIU in OT. Hopefully playing teams more our caliber from here on out we'll get back to the team we've seen the last few years.

I've watched it again. It does look pretty bad. I see it's making some noise on social media. That's not good.

It'll be interesting to see if Creighton addresses this issue.

Agree. One point I'd like to pick up on: I don't think St. Francis was a proper tune up for WI. WI played PSU and looks to be in mid-season form. We're not their yet.

So scheduling, IF possible, is that Game #1 should be winnable, BUT be a suitable tune up for the 2nd game.

https://fbschedules.com/ncaa-2022/team/eastern-michigan

2022 schedule is appropriate, I think. E. KY is a better team than St. Francis.

I don't think teams like St. Francis, Wagner, etc. are strong enough competition as a first game tune up before a B1G game. (UB played Wagner the 1st week).

Good points. Not that the outcome would have chanced but a better schedule for this year might have been:

St. Francis
Texas State
Wisconsin
UMass

Unrelated, but I'm not sure if anyone mentioned that on the radio they said Donnellon is most likely out for the year. Still no word on Knue. Also Lafleur, Watson, Vaden, and Bogan were all out last night. No word on how long they will be out, but it'll be important to get those guys back in the secondary when we start playing more competitive games.

I think we are underestimating the HUGE impact those 4 injuries are having on our defense. Lafleur is a preseason all-MAC player and he hasn't seen a snap. Vaden is a big but quick body and we saw him get a pick against St Francis. Watson and Bogan are starters too. Wouldn't most defenses look weaker if they were down 4 starters?

We need to get as many of them back as we can ASAP.
