Duke is struggling against NC A&T. 21-14 at the half and it could have been 14-14 at the half.

Ominous piece in the AJC essentially saying "you'd better beat Kennesaw".

You can't be the second best team in the Metro Atlanta area and expect no consequences.

Duke 45
NC A&T 17
Final

Uglier game than the score would suggest. Duke is really struggling with tackling.

On a more national note, Utah State fresh off an upset of Washington State is getting handled by North Dakota 21-10.

RE: Open Thread - 2021 Football - Week 2
Pitt, it sure would be nice if you'd win today! Not a good start.

Pitt 0, Tenn 10

HORRIBLE kick return - ball carrier ran sideways while giving ground, never tried to head straight upfield!
Also, pass offense looks like it wasn't prepared for the defensive wrinkles. On one play, 3 guys blocked one pass rusher while a blitzer ran free to the QB. Also, I've seen Picket misread the coverage on some passes - hopefully coaches can make adjustments!

GT 24-3 at the half.

This is what last week should have looked like in Atlanta. Yates earned his start. He can't throw reliably more than 15 yds down field though. The screen game is still mysteriously non-existent even when obvious send-the-house pressure is coming. On the positive side of the ledger the defensive front seven are playing pretty good. Jordan Mason is the definitive captain of the team and has a bad attitude all game long. If he gets the ball he's running over people. If he doesn't get the ball he's pancaking people.

Well that's a terrific way to give back any good will from the first three quarters.

*turns on Cuse-Rutgers*

0-0 mid 3rd. Rutgers QB wearing 0. Mmmkay then. You guys cooking up VT00WF 2.0?

The Rutgers offense is like Wild Thing in early Major League 2.0. A massive assortment of breaking pitches screens in the flat.

RE: Open Thread - 2021 Football - Week 2
I'm heretofore dubbing this Rutgers offense the inverted triple option. Everything is a short pass to the flat. Need some variety? How about a QB keeper up the gut. Not enough variety? Fine, we're still going to the flat, but this time jet sweep. Schiano has a positively gargantuan number of screen plays to the flat.

7-7 Cuse-Rutgers.

It's gonna take Rutgers like 20-30 more screens to take the lead again.

Same Rutgers that scored 61 on Temple? Temple must really suck this year.

After last week I’ll take it. Congrats to Cavs as well. Hopefully the Cards can get a win against a tough EKU team tonight, although I don’t want to get my hopes up.
