Teams I'd most like to play on a long term basis

CUSA-Charlotte, ODU, WKU, MSU, FAU, UAB and Southern Miss. (7)
SBC - App State, Georgia Southern (2)
AAC - Navy, ECU, and USF. (3)

Just based on that analysis, I'd just as soon see us stay where we are. Like I said, I'm ready for the shots coming my way.

I am not going to lie I had to google the definition of "prefences".

Also I think this is a Trojan Horse thread to trick us into talking about re-alignment without explicitly saying so.

It always feels like no matter how much we may bag on each other here. The general consensus is that Tech, UAB and USM value playing each other in all sports. There seems to be a healthy bit or rivalry and comradery there. I mean I hate UAB and USM, but I want to play them every year in all sports.

It’s a good thing to have. The worst thing we all have going right now is all the conference mates we are indifferent towards.

Fixed it, as much as I could. Glad, at least, you had to look it up...makes me less lonely on this ledge.

RE: Conference Preferences
I am informed enough to acknowledge that Memphis is gone to the Big XII as soon as Texas and Oklahoma depart.

As a North Texas fan, these are teams I would like to play on a long term basis:

CUSA- CUSA West- I too like all of them as foes
Sunbelt- Arkansas State, Louisiana
AAC- Tulane, SMU, Tulsa

That's 12 who all have established rivalries with all of their neighbors
Add Middle Tennessee and WKU if we want to go to 14

RE: Conference Preferences
Wherever we end up, I hope it's with Western Kentucky. I think some of that is that I'm sentimental to my student years at UNT when we were battling every year in the SBC Tournament with WKU.

And the last few years in CUSA have been amazing as both teams have battled for the top spot again in hoops.

The AAC couldn't add much better basketball-wise as this pair right now.

For football, it would be ideal to be in the same conference as SMU for a great conference rivalry game that both teams' local fans can easily travel to.

Before you have a fence, you have a pre-fence.

You know, just the fence posts.

Makes sense.

Until you ask…

“But aren’t those the post-fences?”

Things that make you go hmmm

Definitely true. I enjoy this triangular rivalry we have going on.

RE: Conference Preferences
Best scenario for Louisiana Tech...

Tech, Tulane, USM, UAB, Memphis, Tulsa, Rice, SMU, North Texas

9 schools with us at the geographical center. That is what EVERY school wants! But most will never get.

9 is the perfect number, IMO. Allows easy scheduling, and in football 4 non-conference games. It does eliminate a football CCG though.

If we want 12...then add Arkansas State, UL-Lafayette, and UTSA.

ditto from Herd fans, but we'd add App St, most likely if we could. I don't think anyone on the list would object to playing them.

What ever allows Marshall to play Ohio, Cincinnati, Louisville, Virginia Tech, East Carolina in football. Would take AAC, Sunbelt, or MAC over CUSA. Would be happy with A10 or CAA for other sports.

We're playing all of them now. OOC games are up to us, but we'll never be in a conference with most on that list and hopefully not with Ohio again.
